Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

My love for accounts, finance and taxation made me choose this course over others. The course is simple for those who are consistent and have interest in accounts and maths. The subjects are based on practical based knowledge and there are amendments every year in taxation and accounts to keep you well aware of the changes and face the world with required knowledge. The course curriculum could be improved by adding more detailed and updated information for Accounting Standards. The exams are not that difficult if you have good grasp on the basics . Exams are held twice a year with frequent internals for respective subjects

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Annually, companies like Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PWC hire students from our college because of its excellent CTC structure. In order to assist them reach their potential, my college has a placement cell that is managed by students for students. The same issue applied to internships as well, but primarily we lacked an internship-style course framework, so the college is not at fault.

Placement Experience

5

The student are offered good placement especially our college is known for providing a good placement to MBA AND CA students. Students are eligible from SEM 2 for placement. Big4 Companies like TCS, Delliot and PWC are made available for students through placement cell which takes place twice to thrice a year. Students are offerwd placement between 1 lac to 3 lac depending on their skills and eligibility criteria. Most of the students who fulfill the criteria get the opportunity for interviews in the company and get a place there. My plans are to pursue MBA or expertise in Finance/taxation

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is quite affordable because it being a government backed college. The fees varies each semester. The tuition fees is around 2000-3000 and the rate of hike is around 5-10% each semester. The total fees of the year gets around Rs.6000-7000 including service, tuition, Gymkhana and library fees. The scholarship scheme like Mahadbt are available which help students from economically backward classes to get full refunds and concessions. There is a placement cell which helps students to get placement in the Big4's and reputed firms for students taking CA course or those who have a plan to pursue MBA.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is pretty fun. There is always some event to watch out for and show your skills. Events like Moneta , ENIGMA hosted by Podar and other college events both inter and intra level take place regularly. The classes have projectors which helps in deeply understanding the subject. The college have apps and softwares for conducting online lectures and tests too. Sports like cricket, khokho and other for who play professionally are available 12 months a year. Players like Shreyas Iyer have been a part of college . Other events like annual sports days and yoga sessions are held atleast once a year. Students who have interest in Dramas, Singing and Olympiad exams have good scope too. There are many clubs for the betterment of students backed by college an help student to learn skills like public speaking, event organising, etc

Admission

The admission process was quite simple as I opted for inhouse quota. I had pretty good percentage so getting admission was not an issue. The course requires you to complete your higher secondary studies from commerce stream. The cut out is around 80 to 85% of your 12th boards. I have not availed for reservation but there are many benefits available such as full fee refund. The admission process can be done simple by making it online

Placement Experience:

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The B.com is not a very comprehensive and complex degree to complete for someone who wants to pursue his/her career in finance. It can be referred as an initial start or push start for one's finance journey over the years. Also the relevance of B.com in real world is gradually decreasing day by day.

Remarks:

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
