Entrance Preview

This was the best option I had, as I wanted a college with a socially intriguing college life along with excellent placements, which NSIT is famous for. Also, the students are exceptionally brilliant and the alumni from NSIT have gone to great heights in every field ranging from software to film making to consulting- you name any field and you'll find NSITians performing well.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was updated in 2016 and Choice Based Credit System was introduced. This system removed all the redundant and outdated subjects and introduced a variety of new subjects. Also, now students can opt for subjects from other streams too. For ex: a student from Instrumentation branch can take electives from Computer Science as well.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, NSIT has a lot of companies coming for on-campus internships. The internship season begins after 3rd year and around 100 companies visit throughout the year. The general stipend ranges from 25000-30000 per month for a 2-month internship. The highest was 1.5 lakhs per month by DE Shaw this year, i.e. 2018.

Placement Experience

4.5

NSIT is well known for its excellent placements. Around 200 companies visit the campus during placement season including major firms such as Tower Research, Rubrik, Adobe, Samsung, Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Bain, BCG, ZS, Hero, Honda motors, Reliance, Tata Power and PSU's such as BHEL, SAIL, IOCL, etc. Job opportunities are limitless for the students here as they can opt between a variety of fields such as core engineering, software, or non-technical fields such as Consulting, Data Science, etc.

College Events

4

1) MOKSHA: Moksha is the annual cultural fest of NSIT. It is a three-day long fest that includes a multitude of events ranging from dance to music to gaming to talent shows. Moksha attracts a lot of big sponsors, and the highlight of Moksha on all days is the Star Night. A lot of stars have visited NSIT during Moksha including Shaan, DJ Edward Maya, KK, TVF crew, Abish Matthew and Monali Thakur. 2) INNOVISION: NSIT has it's own annual techno-managerial fest, Innovision. Being a two day event, Innovision has about a wide variety of events catering to a diverse range interests like programming, bike shows, debates, case studies, etc. 3) TRIQUETRA: Triquetra is the annual sports fest which is jointly hosted by NSIT, IIIT-Delhi and DTU. A numver of colleges from all over the country participate in Triquetra. 4) COLLOQUIUM: It is the annual debating fest of NSIT. Delegations from several colleges across Delhi take part in Colloquium. 5) E-SUMMIT: It is the annual entrepreneurship conclave of NSIT. 6) TEDxNSIT: A series of TED talks are organized which has been graced by various famous personalities such as Bhuvi Jain, Balaji Vishwanathan, Awdhesh Singh, Ankush Singla, etc. 7) Winter Sports: It is the annual intra-college sport event in which students from every class battle against one another in various sports such as basketball, cricket, football, table tennis, kabaddi, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

NSIT comes directly under the Delhi University so the fee is feasible. Before the beginning of every year, students have to pay the Institute fee which is around 1.3 lakhs in total for every year. Hostel fee is close to 20,000 and the mess fee is 17,000 for one semester. Loans and scholarships are also provided.

Fees and Financial Aid

A lot of scholarships are provided by the Delhi Government for financially weak students. For defence candidates, a scholarship of 20,000 is provided every year. Also, the top students from a batch get a refund of their tuition fee which is around 50,000. Students can also take loan from any bank for which they don't have to pay any interest.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life at NSIT is very happening. Almost every day, some event or the other is taking place on the campus. The gender ratio would be closed 1:12(female: male). The crowd at NSIT comprises of students from very different backgrounds and from places such as those in South India, North-east, and also from countries such as Nepal, and Gulf countries such as Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, etc. NSIT provides numerous extracurricular opportunities. There are 40 active societies and clubs in the campus which cater to several interests of the students. The labs are updated and have all the modern equipments. NSIT also has a lab which is fully sponsored by Texas Instruments. For every sport, there is proper infrastructure and teams, which participate in a number of tournaments all over India.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility is decent. The rooms are either single or double sharing. They are big enough and well ventilated. The hostel rules are quite strict and students have to abide by the curfew timings. The mess food is good and a lot of variety is there. A mess committee is also present which takes care of all mess related issues.

Alumni/Alumna

NSIT has a well-established alumni network, with famous alumni such as Ira Singhal(Civil Services Rank 1, 2014), Naveen Kasturia(Actor, TVF Pitchers), Rajat Bansal(Ex-CTO, Hike) and many more. Every year NSIT students get into top companies like Google, Microsoft, Tower Research, etc. Numerous students have also got admits from top universities all across the world. NSITians also perform extremely well in exams pertaining to higher education like CAT, GATE, IES, etc. The seniors are helpful but the senior-junior interaction is limited. Juniors have to approach seniors on their own if they aren't part of any society.

Exam Structure

In one semester, two major examinations are held. One is mid semester exam, which happens in between the semester and the other is the end semester exam. The students are also graded on the basis of their performance during practical exams and internal assessments.

Admission

After the JEE Main, I had to register for the JAC counselling. Earlier till 2016, Class 12 board marks were also counted but now only the JEE Main marks or ranks are counted for admission. After filling the JAC form, notifications regarding the same are available on jacdelhi.nic.in

Faculty

3.5

All the faculties are highly qualified and have Ph.D. or M Tech degrees from foreign universities or top Indian universities such as IITs, NITs, etc. There are a lot of teachers who conduct research and they take students under them for research work or for publishing papers too. In general, most of the teachers are very helpful and are willing to support the students.

Placements are good especially during recession. You're eligible for placements after 3rd year. After 2nd Year you're eligible for Internships. All Big Companies like Google Microsoft Apple Goldmansachs Mckinsey etc. Highest package offered till now in 2025 is 85LPA (Atlassian) Average of CSE is 17 -18 lpa . almost 53% people get placed in 2025 (recession time). See The degree OF DTU has its value. So it gives you an edge while you go for off campus.

The placement rate here is around 70-75% on an avg in all branches and sometimes even higher. After 1st year only , multiple opportunities starts coming . After 1st year and before 2nd year , basically in summer vacation we have to do a compulsory internship (college also provides) and we are provided a credit for that . Then multiple opportunities like GOOGLE STEP ,amacon internship , etc come.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university doesn't beat around the bush while deciding the courses. They have picked only the subjects and the curriculum that are suitable for our field and focus on making us future-ready. Some subjects might seem a little fast-paced, but if you are consistent enough, you won't face any problems. It is safe to say that the exams and things taught in most the subjects are same to that of its so there is no lacking behind in that aspect.
