What Students Say
Likes
- Student-run campus aspect as it gives more say of the students in the admin task
- Kashpiur is near some tourist spots like Nainital, Mussurrie, Haridwar, Rishikesh.
- The campus is actually beautiful, the sunsets, moon, the clouds and everything.
Dislikes
- The location as not many trains are available and you need to book a cab from Delhi
- There is not much to explore Kashipur you will explore it in 2 days.
- The winter is brutal for someone coming from warm areas, it goes on till March. Also, during winters the whole city and campus is hooded in thick fog.
Course Curriculum Overview
For me the deciding factor was Analytics, I wanted to go into this field therefore I went with this program. Also, since there were very few colleges that accepted students with non-technical backgrounds therefore this further motivated me to go with this course. The curriculum is a good blend of management and analytics subjects. Usually in the first year, we have more management subjects and as the term progresses, the weightage of analytics subjects increases. The faculties are great, there are projects and class discussions that I think have more contribution in my learning. We have a trimester system with mid-terms and end-terms along with quizzes and projects. The difficulty level is low to medium of everything.
Internships Opportunities
The internship and final placement companies are mostly the same for us. We do have an umbrella placement for both the core and analytics students. Some companies float a Live project and also provide internship opportunities after completing it.
Placement Experience
The placements are decent. There are some really great companies that visit our campus like ICICI, Accenture, L&T, TATA motors, TATA steel, Bloomberg, TVS etc. Actually, the market is currently down therefore companies a very choosy and are not offering a lot of perks so students are getting placed very slowly.
Fees and Financial Aid
For me, the total fee was Rs 18 Lac but for the next batch, it has increased to Rs 20 Lac. Also, I think analytics programs are gaining more popularity therefore this has contributed to the hike. Apart from the total fee, one needs to pay the mess fee every semester. The amount changes slightly but is around 15K to 20K. There are a lot of scholarships, merit-based, category, need-based etc. You can refer to the website. We don't get opportunities to work on campus, just live projects which can include a stipend.
Campus Life
IIM Kashipur is a student-run campus, we had 41 clubs, committees and cells when I joined. There is a mess committee as well which ensures the smooth running of our mess they do a wonderful job because the food is decent the menu is changed every month after our feedback and there are special lunches and dinners as well on special occasions. We have a lot of fests and cultural activities on campus. There is Agnitaraya our college fest then there is TEDxIIM Kashipur, there is Uttishtha - E-summit, HR conclave, and many cultural and club events that happen around the year. We have a futsal ground, Lawn tennis court, basketball court and indoor games room for TT, pool, Fusball, and carrom. The classrooms are nice. Actually, the infrastructure is inspired by Harvard therefore the classrooms are very much like that with projectors, multiple sliding boards, amphitheatre sort of seating arrangements and some of the classrooms also have mics attached to the desks.
Admission
The MBA analytics program at IIM Kashipur is more inclusive because it also accepts students from non-technical backgrounds. The eligibility is 50% and above in Graduation and the other criteria are similar to other B-schools. For the MBA analytics program, there is a separate application process from CAP, the registration usually starts in January and goes on for a month. There was a PI round after my application was selected and I would say the difficulty was low to moderate.
Interview Experience
I just gave the interview after the application round. The interviewer was friendly and the questions were very much like other MBA interview questions - Current affairs, education and work experience. I didn't prepare differently for this interview but I did study statistics and data analytics a bit.
Other Applied Colleges
Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies - [NMIMS Deemed to be University] | Master of Business Administration [MBA]
