Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

One of the best thing about oue branch is the curiculum made by the department or School of Mechanical Engineering. The maths used while selecting the number of classes and managing them was hilariously quiet good. The department changed our timetable thrice in a week just to release out the load of continuous hectic classes from the student's shoulders. We were provided with all the machinery and basic knowledge required to use them in workshop. They taught us and helped us to learn new skills regarding lathe machine, foundry, welding, carpentry and many more. Many seminar and webinar held here giving us certain knowledge and influencing us to find our own pathway in the area of our expertise. Regular classes and labs taught us many new thing. But if it lacks somewhere then it is in the frequency and timeing of exam which is just one month. More time must be given to finish the syllabus and for students to prepare it.

Internships Opportunities

3

The internship programs are quiet good. The Tata motors, Tata steel, Mahindra, Companies related to the automobile industries, IITs and many more companies visits the campus for giving internships with stipend

Placement Experience

3.5

While fourth year the companies approach the campus and students for placement. For example the Tata, Mahindra, Birla groups and many more visits the campus for placement procedure as per there requirements. The average package is of 8.5lakh annually and the highese package for Mechanical could vary form 12 to 14 lakh. Near about 40% students gets placement form the Mechanical branch.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee for BTech is One lakh seventy eight thousand eight hundred and thirth rupees in Indian currency annualy. The other charges are mess charge which is twent-three thousand annually and hostel charge as twenty thousand annually. The scholarship is given to the students if they get more than on equal to 8.5 CGPA with 85% attendence in every class with being in top 10 students in a class.

Campus Life

2.5

There are four different fests held every year in the collage with many cultural festival celebrations. The interested/ talanted students gets a stage to perform with influencing others to come out and explore more. There are many clubs targeting different area of expertise of the students, influencing them to groom there hobbies and skills. The library is well managed with more than 2lakh books online and more than 50 thousand books ofline. The digital classes and videos are used in the classroom for better understanding of the topics. There are specific grounds made for specific games and sports.

Hostel Facilities

3

For the first year students, the rooms in New Basohli are allocated to all the students. There will be two people living together, that is there will be two room mates. It's rooms are well maintained and large as compare to the other hostels in the campus. In other words, this will be luxury for you if by any chance you will live alone in the room. But the washroom specifically toilets won't be able to match your lofty levels of expectations. The sanitation is sometime good and sometime not good enough. The meal is good enough to meet the nutritious values but not good enough if compared to the fee given for food. The registration process of hostel could be stretched longer if you are from Jammu or Udhampur.

Admission

The admission process held quiet smoothly till it came to the anti-ragging certificate procedure. It was already made clear in the instructions of the email sent by the collage about the whole process which included the following steps. 1st they instructed us about the building where we were needed to report for which even the students helped us maturely and kindly when asked to guide us to the building. The faculty was quiet hostile and we were attended by an office worker instructing us regarding the documentation process. 2nd face started with the authorisation of valid and important documents as I was selected on the bases of JEE scores. At least ten or more forms/certificates were checked and collected from us. 3rd and last step was fee payment and form filling. There is a J/K bank branch opened within the collage campus for convenience and other reasons. The payment was done there and the slip was taken. The details were filled in a form and I officially became SMVDU's student.
