Course Curriculum Overview
The course currciculum changes each semester based on the real world applications and practicalities of today's world. The best thing about IITGN is that the courses are not only designed by professsors but also based on the feedbacks of the students. The currciculum also prepares us for hand to hand real world problems and also prepares us to pursue other academic activities such as MTech or PhD. Since the curriculum is changing each semester the improvements are itself handled and the teaching methods of the professors and GTFs are also very good. The classes starts early at around 8 am and goes tilll 1pm and then from 2pm to 6pm and for the first 4 semesters a 45min physical activity session is also arranged to maintain the activeness of the students.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities available at the campus is very good, the internship period begins around the month of july and runs till the month of august. The companies that visit the campus are atlassian, barclays, varrious banks of gujarat, and various chemcial and mechanical based companies such as mercedes benz. etc currently I have done projects on numerical analysis and thermodynamics and have been aiming to do more projects in the upcoming semesters.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee increase policy is not as much in IITGN and it is the same for the past three years, since I have not noticed such a spike because this is an Government Institution the reason for hike in the near future will be because of the facilitites provided by the institution to the students. The complete cost of BTech at IITGN is around Rs 13 lakh which involves Rs 1 lakh per semester for tuition fee, one time service fee of Rs 5000, and other compulsory charges of around Rs 46588 per semester which includes laundry, mess and hostel accomodation. The students who has parental income less than Rs 5 lakh per annum are awarded Tuition fee waiver and other scholarships which includes the alumini and reliance scholarship. Currently I have not been employed at campus, but I have been a part of the inter iit organising team and for that i had a POR.
Campus Life
My overall experience at IITGN has been very good since day one. The Tech summit of IITGN "Amalthea" is such a breathtaking summit which involves events like Tech expo, Robowars, DRA (Drone Racing), Brainwiz for children from classes 9-12, Youth-TechTic for students and also conclave and symposium, Perfect for an Tech lover. The annual cultural event "Blitchrom" is another very good festival where there alot of dance, music and singing competions lined up along with an pronite at the end of the event. Both of the festivals run for 3 days. The classrooms are well equipped with ACs, Projectors and even computer screens and have very good enviornment. The sports and extracurriculars at IITGN is extraordinary, we have a separte building called sports complex dedicated to sports which has best sports facilities including squash courts, TT courts, swimming pool (olympic size) and badminton courts along with running tracks. The tech summit amalthea is completely student run.
Hostel Facilities
The Hostel Facilties are top class in camprision to all other IITs in india, the rooms include Acs along with good insulation and are new. The meals at the mess are decent and the menu is decided each semester by the students. The registration process along with payment of fee is done on the institute run student portal called IMS, the hostel fee per semster is around Rs 8000 which is fine since we are getting these many facilities along with washing machines in the hostel and a common room also.
Admission
The eligibilty is based on the rank scored in the JEE ADVANCED Exam, The application form and fee structure of the respective college is available on the JOSAA website along with the application dates. The reservation benefits are also avialble under the seat matrix section. The frequemcy and type of exam varies each year for admission in IITs. Each year a particular IIT sets the exam and cutoff is decided and based on that ranks are provided to the students, then a six round counselling session begins and the students have to fill their priority list or college preference and they are alloted seats based on their preference list, For me personally the admission process went a little rusty, I applied for IIT delhi but did not get it because of my low rank but still I got admission in IIT, for others as well i think the admission in IITs are quite smooth.
Other Applied Colleges
IIT Delhi - Indian Institute of Technology [IITD] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Chemical Engineering)
