Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I would say in terms of curriculum it is good but they should perform more practical experiments and same weight of theory both should be balanced. I thought of taking admission in cse because i have deep interst in Iot stuff and codeing part. In 2,3 sem we where thaought c and c++ with dsa if you prepare on your own you can score good in MST and endsemster examination. Teachers are friendly here with exception of 2,3 old maam and 1,2 prof . But department heads are bad alot they just want to tourcher students for no reason it should be stopped . Semester session starts from jan-july then aug-dec and 2 MST and a end semester examination with moderate toughness. Apart from this i would say its average.

Placement Experience

2

Placements incampus is not average it is below average. If you manage to mantain 8+cgpa then you have some chance to get placement in mid tier company. Also forget about fang because only if you have some exceptional skill then you will land on a mnc job otherwise its all blurred. Think trice before coming to this college. Taking about package it is 4 lpa average and max was 20lpa plus offcampus . Most students plan to get a decent job after degrees but in ikgptu it is tough you have to be very very cautious about each step then you can land on a job.

Fees and Financial Aid

So coming to fee structure i would make 2 parts one is academic fees and another will be hostel fee with mess fee. Semester fees is rs 47000 and hostel fees is rs 11750 but in first you they Will charge rs 2k for security deposit. Mess fee have different fee there should be rs 21000 in your mess account in beginning of semester . University also provide scholarship of 25% to student with 80% in 12th and another scholarship scheme is for backward student which is PMS scheme. There is no opportunity to earn in campus and no other financial support. But overall fees is very optimal if we compare with other engineering colleges.

Campus Life

2.5

This is the worst part from my experience. It can varies for other students . I do not like to be in campus i just don't enjoy at all. Because there is only few major fest in college and no other big fest. One is aagaz where most performance are in Punjabi and another is youth fest that's it and small small competitions and some tech seminar. So please think twice if want to come here take all this in consideration then make decisions because you are going to spend very important part of your life here . If you ask me about infrastructure then it is good classroom are good , library is good, gym is good , and sports facility is also great!

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostel food is very poor mid college should make improvements in this part . Now hostel part hostel facility is good they give 2 seater hostel rooms with 2 bed 1 table and chair room is spacious if you adjust it ache se . Fees is not that high you can have cooler in summer but have to pay electric bill but in winter there is catch you cannot use any heating appliances but most people do by hiding it. So it is what it is . And i think hostel life is what you will enjoy the most it manage to make some good friends.

Admission

Unlike other colleges admission process was not that easy , when i took admission i faced alot of helplessness because of lag response from college during admissions. Eligibility for admissions is straight you should have minimum 70% in your 12th or have cleared jee mains with at least 80 percentile. Two ways of getting in one is trough direct counseling and other is via jee mains counseling total seats for cse in main campus us 300 :/ . You can find details at ptu.ac.in admissions usually starts from month of may-oct you it varies. After getting in its not that good college you may find alot struggle because of cse department but not everything is bad .If you would ask me what should be fixed then i will say college should work heavily for there student because they are the one who make or break college image.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
