Course Curriculum Overview

4

My course Artificial Intelligence is the new thing which we all aspire to learn so that we can be in tune with the current trend and changes happening. In course curriculum , main subjects are Machine Learning ,Deep Learning ,DSA , Maths including Calulus ,Algebra and Probability. Then we also have to do major projects in upcoming years. There are 2 sems in each year. My sem was from late Aug to Mid Dec. There are 4 main exams held. First is Quiz-1(also known as announced test) ,then Mid-Sems ,then Quiz-2 and finally end sems having the most weightage out of all of them.

Internships Opportunities

5

Google ,Microsoft ,Lamborghini , Oracle , Infosys and many big companies come here and get students on internship. They have students for around 2 months and give them projects and teach them so that students can get some experience in the field and it would be very beneficial for them in the future.

Placement Experience

5

Campus employment is actually good in NITK Surathkal. Highest package is around 54 LPA and CSE students have a median of 25 lakh. Many companies like Google ,Microsoft ,Lamborgini come here. Around 90% students are placed here. I would love to be a machine learning engineer after graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

For odd sem ,tution fees is around 90000 and even sem has 60000 fees. For hostel ,it is 32000. For 4 yr of course , total fees would be 8,70,000. Financial aids are given to students with reservation or economic weaker section category. Scholorships are given to the top performing students.

Campus Life

4

It is very great to have a student life in NITK Surathkal. You get your own beach here and the air quality index is also so good here. There are various clubs here and they often hold many events for students to be indulge in college activites. The college is also good for research purposes and they get major fund from the government to encourage them. Sports facility is also very good here. In inter-NIT ,NITK Surathkal is considered one of the best teams because of its faculty onyl.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel life is average like a normal hostel you would expect here. First year has 3 hostels with 3 person accomodation. Second year has 3 options , single room or 2 person accomodation. 3rd and 4th years have only single rooms. Mess food is just average and it is eatable. There are many canteen where everyone can try and one food court is also here.

Admission

I took Jee Mains exam for NITK Surathkal and my rank was 2813 with 99.76%ile . The closing rank for AI Branch is around 3100 rank in general category. The course is of 4 years in B.Tech. You can find the form on jee mains official site. The fees for exam is Rs 1000 and it happens 2 times in a year. Exam timing will be either in morning shift from 9-12 or in evening 3-6. After that you have to go through Jossa Admission for all the Admission process. After that there are 6 rounds and 1 CSAB round for admission. When you get a seat in any round ,you have to fill partial fees and submit all the documents. Then it will be verified. In NITK Surathkal , the admission process is done branch wise. In my case on the first day AI , Civil and Mining branch people were called and on the last day CSE and Chemical branch students were called.
