Course Curriculum Overview

2

AI is the latest tech craze but the curriculum till now doesnt have a lot to do with AI. After 4 semesters, although we have had some courses of AI it was ineffective as teaching staff themselves are new to this field. Nevertheless AI is a branch that is coding intensive with practical labs for almost all subjects improving our coding knowledge. DSA is focused on. Exam difficulty is moderate if you prepare well in advance and it is conducted in 2 parts- mid sem and endsem along with quizzes.

Internships Opportunities

4

multiple companies like amazon , microsoft , Goldman sachs provides interneships with stipends ranging from Rs. 10,000 - Rs. 1,00,000 per month depending on your branch. Internships start from 3 rd year and companies heavily focus on DSA knowledge , with most companies following the process as such - Resume filtering , DSA pen - paper test / Technical Interview , HR interview.

Placement Experience

4.5

From 7th semester onwards students are eleigible for placements . Multiple large tech and finance companies come here like google, microsoft, amazon, nvidia, Goldman Sachs,DeShaw etc. Package depends on branch. CS students had an average package of 28 Lpa in year 2023 wih almost 100% placement. Overall college has an 85%+ placement rate.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is not a lot of annual increase in the fees. For a general student the fees structure is tuition (65000) + mess and hostel fees (35000) amounting to a total of Rs 1,00,000 per semester. Multiple scholarships are available for SC/ST's and OBC-NCL (non creamy layer) per semester amounting to a minimum of 20 - 30 k scholarships if students correctly verify their details . Financial aid is also provided to such students by the college while buying electronic items. College gives a rebate of more than 50% on such items with bill.

Campus Life

4

Annual Festival - Incident held during March - Various famous artists are called for the pro show , where concerts are held. Lasts 3 days and is packed with events. Technical Festival - Engineer - held during October - Students display their various projects and also includes concerts by artists with food stalls and other events. NITK has 2 libraries - one normal library filled with ample books and an e-library that can be accessed by any student on campus, anywhere. Classrooms are equipped with projector. All clubs are student run. Nitk has 15+ clubs covering all aspects of interests from photogrophy , daning, finance, web dev, coding etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

room is quite small as for boys especially ,3 Freshers occupy a double sharing room . Meal facility is quite good depending on your mess selected. Mess follows a timetable and provides daily breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Beach Heaven surathkal is a famous PG right next to college campus.

Admission

Nitk is a top tier NIT and therefore admission into this college happens solely on JEE MAINS result. NITK's AI branch is a new branch introduced only 3 years ago but is still very much sought after in the college. Candidates can register for JEE MAINS on NTAs website and registration is usually open for a month and closes 2-3 months prior to that sessions exam date. JEE MAINS has 2 sessions yearly or in other words, is conducted twice a year. General Students would require an under 4-5k rank for admission , whereas a seat through reservation based on caste requires an under 50k - 60k rank. Admission through DASA ( foreign quota ) requires a rank under approx 30 k . JEE MAINS is actually not that hard once youre familiar with all the basic concepts of the chapters, practice previous year JEE mains questions for each chapter and it should be smooth sailing.
