NIT Hamirpur Best in terms of College Life, Good for placements. Overall Rating 7.5/10

The CSE course curriculumn is outdated and requires major upgrade especially to industry level exposure. There is only theoretical processes while the practical application isnt upto mark. People can clear the exams with high marks with rato learning with no real knowledge of the practical applications. The real world problems are barely discussed. Some professors can mke the course interesting by including real life problems but such professors re minute in number. The course must be updated according to industry standards especillay when they are providing placements in that respective field. There are two exams that are conducted in a semester, Mid sems whoch are of 30 marks and syllabus for them is half the entire syllabus that is taugh while the major end sem exams which are of 50 marks cover the entire syllabus. Pepole can achieve high marks with just 1 week prior studying.

The internship oppurtunities has dwindled since cornona period and hardly 1 or 2 companies arrive for internships. Students need to themselves find intership through off campus and sites like intershala or bharat intern. project based knowledge, students have to acquire on their own and projects play an important role during getting their first intern.

The college placements are great with highest package sgoing upto 1.2crore, The average package of cse department is 12lpa while overall it sits around 7 lpa. CSE has highest placement record followed by ECE and MNC. Companies like Carrier,Paytm, Infosys, Reliance, Deloitte and other companies have grace the college per year. Due to covid and recession the placements have taken a hit but its the same case everywhere.Around 800 offers were made to college student during 2022-2023 batch. The no of of Overall student placed percenatge os 70% while CSE is 90% with highest record. My plan after getting a degree is to take up college placement. The students become eligible for campus placements in their 4th year or 7th semester for BTECH students.

Tution fees for general students is 76000 per semester while for SC/ST it is 25000. The total cost of course is 8 lakh for general students and 2-3 lakhs for SC/ST students. There is no scholarship benefit provided for Genral Students, however there is scholarship for SC/ST students through NTPL portal. There are no campus employment oppurtunities but in third year we can avail interships through college.

The campus life at NIT Hamiprur is incredible from greats seniros to ample oppurtunities of fun and games. The college has 3 fest, 1 Cultural, 1 Technical, 1 Sports fest. The cultural fest is named Hillffair and lasts for 3 days while it's preparation lasts for a month. The fest include top singers/entertainers and great way to enjoy with freind or girlfriend(if you can get one). The technical fest is named Nimbus and last for 2 days with prepartion lasting around a month. The fest include innovative ideas and projects which is great way to boost a student knowledge and test their practical skills. The sports Fest is named Lallkaar and last for 2 days with prepration lasting around 2 months. The fest include all major sports competition like badminton, football, basketball,volleyball,kabaddi,track and field and etc etc. There are over 30+ clubs and socities which offer vast oppurtunities for enjoyment and hobbies.

There are over 8 hostels for boys and 4 hostels for girls. Each year of students has it s own hostel accomodation. The hostels are well suited but soemtime faces wter issues, internet acess. The food in mess is just alright with some days being relatively better. Sometimes special meals are made during events and festivals and end year of hostel is clebrated with hostel night that include dance/dj and fast food. The hostel is 25000 per semester which include both hostel acommodation and mess food charges. The registration process is fairly simple which requires students to simply enroll their rollno in hostel list

The admission to NIT Hamirpur was base on JEE Mains metrics. The Jee exam is elgibile for student that have passed 12th class upto 3 years of consecutive drops. The application form can be found on nta sites which are available during months of August/September. I being an ST student had relatively lower cutoff and was eligible for btech cse course in nit hamirpur The exam takes place twice. One in January and other in April/May depending on the exams of 12th class. The admission process was smooth and had no hiccups. The admissions are based through JOSSA counselling and it was fluid. If there are any doubts regarding it, there re multiple sites and videos on internet to cler any doubts nd hence all queries can be cleared.
