Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The only thing that attracted me to choose this course in this University was that they offered CSE branch very easily there wasn't any criteria for admission . The curriculum is not that difficult you can get a decent job but don't think about 50 60 LPA. The faculty here isbnot that great many professors teach many subject there is not such professor for particular subject

Placement Experience

2

Students in 7th semester can get placements on campus . Companies like Cognizant, Infosys come and give around 5 6 LPA. The highest placement was given by ZSCALER around 14 LPA. The average placement of our university is 3.50 LPA. Every year around 30 35 % students gets placed

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fees has not been increased till now it was 35000 in first semester and now also it's the same . They take 35000 tuition fees 5000 development fund and 4700 SRF . Only one type of scholarship is available in this college that too for only Punjab state students that is PMS . I don't know much about this scholarship.

Campus Life

3.5

Every year Youth Fest takes place once . Inter college sports events also takes which has sports like Cricket, Football, Badminton and various other sports. They take place sport wise mainly towards the end of the year. We have a great library which consists of books from every department but there's only one drawback that it opens only 9am to 5pm that too only in weekdays .

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Every room has its own bathroom attached. Each room has 2 tubelights and one fan in the room and two bulbs in bathroom . Students can bring coolers in the room but they have to pay 300 rupees per month to the hostel for it . Mess food is alright and menu is also quite diverse

Admission

There was no such entrance exam direct admissions took place. For BTECH CSE the student must be 12th pass and you can avail the seat . The admission process takes place in the months around July and August . The registration fees at my time was 1000 rupees. There was no such thing that I didn't like .

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
