Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum is mostly case based with cases from Harvard , Ivey, Insead and other prominent business schools. Majority of faculties are PHDs from IITs and IIMs and are amazing in terms of level of knowledge they have and able to impart it to students while some of them are not that much good in terms of delivery and engagement in class. Curriculum of MBA Tourism has changed with all MBA core courses taught in first year and second year is dedicated to tourism subjects. There is occassional industrial visit for us to get real world exposure. Exams are in this way - Mid term and then End term with quizzes and presentation in between.
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies that came . Major companies that came was ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, DE shaw that offered finance roles and then several companies came that were mostly for sales & marketing roles. Other companies were offering roles in Operations and HR.
Fees and Financial Aid
So fees is 1600000 and mess fees is around 4500 per month . Financial aid is available for reserved categories by respectives banks and central govt. Some scholarships are available for EWS category. Institute provides scholarship only in special circumstances
Campus Life
There are 4-5 main commitees and several clubs catering to individual interests. There is one annual fest in the Jan-Feb thats cancelled because of unknown reasons. Sports events are held every year ranging from cricket, football, volleyball and others. Several case competiotions are also held by clubs
Hostel Facilities
Room size is good and basic amenities like chair, cupboard, bookshelf and cloth stand are provided. There are issues with meals even after changing vendor , there is still issue of food taste and hygiene that's communicated to authorities several times. They are working on improving the same. Some gym equipments and play things are provided in hostels.
Admission
I gave CAT for admission at IIM Sirmaur. They invited me for MBA Tourism programme after CAT results were released around January. After applying I got PI call in the Feb end and then provisional offer letter in May end. Then Offer acceptence letter. Admission process was smooth with admission team available on reach of call all time. It was facilitated by Zoom call meets with director and faculty and telegram group for queries.
Interview Experience
During my PI there was 2 faculties. One was asking about general knowledge questions and India's Budget specific questions and another asked about latest technology and tools available and details about them
