Dissecting excellence : a critical examination of Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya

I chose the course due to the diverse field I can enter through this field and also mathematics is ver interesting as a subject. There are one teacher for every eight students in our department. Three senior professor have Phd and two others have done masters in math. The teaching method is more or less fine but one of our senior professor is not so helpful to the students and his behaviour is not also as expected. Sometimes he is very rude to the students and also favours his favourite students. There is no such time period between the semester exams. University organises exams according to the political situation and its own financial condition. Our first semester was delayed by two months and third semster has been advanced aby 2.5 months. Question of 2nd semester was pretty hard.

The cost is alright for lower middle class and middle-class students. Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means scholarship and Oasis scholarship are available. No job is coordinated from our college. I do not know about any other financial assistance provided by our college

Every year an annual fest is conducted in month of December but no tech fest is organised. Most of the books referred by our syllabus are not available in the library. The fans are not properly working in our class room . There is a smart room in our department. We play within ourselves but no official sport is conducted. Some dance practices happen for the sake of yearly fest. There is a political union in our college but I don't know any other group or website ran by students.

Someone wants admission must pass out Higher Secondary with a minimum percentage of 40 percent. Then the can apply through the online portal of University of Burdwan and college website. The website should be maintained properly. Sometimes it is very slow and conjested.
