Remarks

College Is very good in all aspects only thing that bothers is its bit expensive otherwise everything is super fine. The management is approachable and any inconvenience caused is rectified in quick time and very nice place to learn, grow and develop.

Entrance Preview

I took gate exam and scored 1400 AIR in computer science stream and I completed my graduation from tier 2 College and got job offers also but I opted this college to have greater exposure and have better opportunities in software industry and as you can get info from stats that this college is growing in reputation At a rapid pace.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is really good In the first semester you have all basic courses of your graduation and we will be getting much depth on subjects which we have already covered. From second semester onwards we have a liberty to choose our domain of interest and a wide variety of courses will be offered and we need to do 5/8 courses in 2nd and 3rd semesters from our domain of interest to secure a specialization in it. Domains in IT includes 1.Data science 2.Computer science 3.Networking. We can choose courses from any of the domain which interests us. But we have to make that we earn necessary credits at the end of the semester.

Internships Opportunities

Our college has startups and those startups provide internship opportunities to students of other colleges. College on its own doesn't provide an internship opportunity. The startups here offers something like 20k to 25k.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements are very good here as only two streams CSE and ECE the college only focus on IT companies more. Almost 70-80 companies visit our campus every year. The college enjoys 100% placement record from past 18 batches. Everyone gets a 6-month internship here and we have to do either internship or thesis in final semester and some may not get full time offers but internship will be surely converted into full-time offer there are not many cases where this is not converted. Recruiting companies includes Amazon, Flipkart, Walmart, Morgan Stanley, Goldman schs, PayPal, Direct I, NetApp, Tesco, mobi c, IBM labs, Cisco, Infosys r&d, TCS r&d, Accenture r&d, mobile iron, Math works, Uber, Avi networks, Paytm, Qualcomm, VMware, and the list goes on packages may differ a lot from company to company and max being offered is 32 lpa by Uber and min is 9lpa as domestic offers. Some guys get international offers of above 1cr in Microsoft and Facebook also but many end up at somewhere 12-14lpa. 80% gets average pay. Amazon and Flipkart offer around 24 lakh etc. TCS offers 10lpa. Companies like Cisco and IBM offers 12lpa. Some startups offer 9lpa.

College Events

4

Technical fest and cultural fest namely spandan which is a 3-day event. college foundation day will be celebrated every sep 15, alumni day will be celebrated every year. Onam is celebrated very well here. The participation will be less as most of the time is spent on coursework and the only event where participants will be maximum is in spandan event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is bit expensive. But the facilities provided are up to the mark of a fee you pay Per-semester tuition fee is about 1,34,000 from 2018 batch and will be incremented for every 2 years and typically all together mess and hostel it comes around 2lakhs per semester from the next batch onwards.

Fees and Financial Aid

From 2018 batch onwards all guys admitted into post graduation courses will be getting scholarships from AICTE ie. 12,400 per month and previously it's only for top 48 rankers in mtech but now it's for all 140 students who are recruited into M.Tech. We have to apply for loans on our own institute doesn't provide any loans and it's quite easy to get a loan as the college has got good reputation.

Campus Life

5

Gender ration is 2:3 in entire college and college campus life is very good the college premises are very nicely maintained and there is a student body where the members of that association will be chosen by voting scheme and those group of student body members takes care of student activities and acts as an interface between students and management Many workshops will be happening now and then we don't have time to attend all of them anyways. There will be no discrimination on basis of anything.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostels are the best. Every student will be provided a separate room and is very well designed with wardrobes and table to study. Hence it is single occupancy you have very good privacy and you can study whenever you want irrespective of time. College wifi is also quite good and any complaint will be solved very quickly and management is quite approachable The rooms are sufficiently spacious and are cleaned every day by the maintenance team. Hostel rooms are excellently designed in a way that they are very ventilated and spacious. Mess food is much better than many colleges and quality of food is awesome you won't regret eating here. Only thing is nonveg is not served in college. It's purely vegetarian food but it's quite good. There is a committee of students namely foodcomm those guys ensure every day that food is up to the mark so no regrets.

Alumni/Alumna

The college alumni are very interactive and approachable and many are very helpful and provides ample guidance on how to choose courses and how to prepare for placements. Some guys make use of references from alumni to get some jobs if they are interested in a domain and that particular company in which alumni are working.

Exam Structure

Yes, exams are very frequent like for each course we have 3-4 class tests and a mid-semester exam and end semester exam. Labs also conducted frequently and labs may have coding exams also. Many days are so hectic and there are few chilled out days also it varies from person to person depending on the demands of the course that one has taken and also depends on professor dealing with the particular course. Most of the courses are hectic we should have a mix of hectic and lite courses to have good overall experience.

Admission

You have to secure a decent gate score to get admitted into masters here. The cutoff varies from time to time In 2016 its 600 In 2017 its 618 gate score and no interview process as of now. For getting admission into Imtech course which is an integrated course of Btech + mtech you should get a decent mains score.. After your +2 the cutoff is around 200 as of now.. The notification was released in April and we should fill it online and 3-4 rounds of Admissions will be there. As the rounds goes on the cutoff will be decreasing.

Faculty

5

This is the area that excites any applicant to join this college. We have professors of top-notch and every professor dealing with each course has very much expertise in his/her domain and one thing I noticed is most of the professors are accessible and are very grounded and friendly unlike the most of professors in government universities and we have very much liberty to express our doubts. If we have taken a course of any professor he has his own way of designing a course and entire marking scheme is upto the professor no intervention from anyone in a structure of course The exams are little innovative unlike the traditional way of remembering and reproducing in exams. The memory is not tested here only your understanding of subject matters and many exams are open book exams where we can bring any piece of material with us to exam hall and the underlying concept behind this is not waste time in remembering things only the way you approach the question matters in an exam. Every professor here has done their Ph.D. from reputed foreign universities or from iisc and Iits. Once go through the profiles of professors from the official website. Iiitb.ac.in.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Mtech Thermal Engineering because I was interested in thermal subjects like Fluid mechanics, Heat transfer, CFD. The Curriculum is pretty decent and it does covers the fundamentals and advanced topics of the particular subject but it could be better in terms of imparting practical and industrial knowledge. The exams that are held in NITK are competitive and requires a good understanding of the subject. You simply cannot cram and get good marks in exam. You have to know the proper implementation of that particular formula or theory.

Campus placement conditions have improved in IISc after the inception of campus placement cell. Average package is around I would say 25 lpa. Since most of the students go for higher studies from IISc hence, you will see the placement percentage to be low. Personality I am also going for higher studies.
