- The amenitites available at the campus and the area of the campus.
- The infrastructure is not that good and the boy's hostel is outside campus and is around 6 kms from the campus which causes a huge inconvenience.
Course Curriculum Overview
The MBA program at IIM Sirmaur includes different courses from varied backgrounds. In the first year, we have a general MBA program where varied courses like Financial Management, Operations Management, Indian Public Policy, Legal Aspects of Management and many such courses from different fields are taught throughout the 3 terms. In the second year, students can opt for electives of their choice from the given list from the college. If we talk about how the faculty is, then I would say that there are many professors which are very knowledgeable and they are quite cooperative as well. Although a few professors are at par but the rest are amazing and they put in a lot of efforts to teach us and are available when ever we need to talk with them, it may be related to the course or in general about business. I chose this course beacuse I wanted to explore the different fields and then choose a major in MBA. The student facult ratio is around 8. There are total 3 final exams in a year.
Internships Opportunities
There are good companies coming in for internship. Students are getting lots of opportunities. Even though this year the market conditions are not good then also our institute is able to bring good number of companies. Students capibility comes into role because the institute is providing multiple opportunities. The major role for Internships are from marketing and sales domain followed by finance and strategy roles. The average stipend is around 60,000 for 2 months.
Placement Experience
The placement of our college is pretty decent. Our institute offers 100% placements and also we do have good brands coming in to our college. It has been only few years of IIM Sirmaur's establishment then also it is in the pace with other B schools and we hope to be leading several more B schools in the upcoming years. The overall placements and learning from the instutite is very good.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees including tuition fees, course material, mess fees, hostel fees and bus facilities is approximately 16,00,000. I don't as such know about the scholarship opportunities but the information is available with the college admission office. The phone number of the admission office is given on the official website of IIM Sirmaur. Anyone can contact and get the details of the fee structure and scholarship.
Campus Life
The life at IIM Sirmaur is quite hectic because of the curriculum and it should be like this because this is how you train yourself. There are around 20 Committees, Cells and Clubs in total. There are many sporting tournaments like football, cricket, volleyball and badminton, with auctions being conducted for every tournament. The annual fest "SIERRA" happens around the 3rd term with some indoor game tournaments, case competitions, DJ night, Dance and singing competition and various other events. The college right now is the temporary campus so the amenities are not so good, but are good enough.
Admission
The Admission process was quite good. I gave CAT exam as an entrance for the IIMs and other colleges and got 95.07 percentile. I was able to convert the CAP IIMs with this score and a background of B.Com. After getting shortlisted for the CAP round there was an interview with 3 panel members from IIM Udaipur. The interview lasted for around 23 minutes and after this there was a wait time of around 1 month, after which the results were released. I converted IIM Sirmaur, IIM Bodhgaya and IIM Jammu. All the other CAP IIMs were in the waitlist and I couldn't convert any of them. I finally selected IIM Sirmaur as my college for MBA 2023-25 batch. The cutoff for IIM Sirmaur in general category was 94 percentile in total and individually, section wise was 70 percentile.
Interview Experience
The selection process had an interview round with 3 panel members. The interview circulated around finance field because I have a background of B.Com and general interview questions. So basically the questions were around B.Com subjects, general knowledge questions and a few from latest news. When it comes to my preparation phase then I was reading the news on a daily basis for 2 months before the interview and revised important topics from 2nd and 3rd year B.Com subjects, mainly from Accounting, Economics and Marketing.
