Likes
- Campus is great . You can roam around the campus as much as you want .
- Freedom is given to the students in terms of mobility and courses
- Seniors are helpful. Whatever activity you want to engage in seniors are always there to encourage you.
Dislikes
- Hostels could have been better . Accomodation facilities can be improved from what they are now , specially for btech students.
- Mess food in all the hostels can get better . Although eating mess food becomes a habit with time but there is a scope for lots of improvement.
- Grading in courses of IIT kanpur is very strict . IIT kanpur acedmics are tougher than other iits
Course Curriculum Overview
They teach high level physics here . Although this is my first year so students from all the branches are taught the same courses but from the 2nd year they get segregated in their department courses.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are provided in 3rd year of the college . On campus internships are good . Almost 30% of the students get placed. Hearing it from seniors, they say projects and good speaking skills and most importantly decent CPI can get you an internship easily.
Placement Experience
Campus placements of IIT kanpur are great . Avg package is around 15 lakhs . If you are in a good branch you can get paid higher on avg. Companies come to hire students in their 4th year . Placement season was on peak in 2022 , but in 2023 it saw a dip..
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fee for 1 year is 2 lakhs and hostel fee is around 60,000 per year . Talking specifically about IIT kanpur, research opportunities are great , professors encourage students to go for research. It still can't match the level of IISER and IISC .
Campus Life
Iit kanpur has got a lush green and beautiful campus . There are many good places.to. hangout with your friends. Life at campus is too fast and many things are happening at the same time . We have got clubs for everything of interest.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are not as great as you get in private colleges . Old hostels of the campus look very old and pale . New hostels such as Hall 12 & 13 are not that bad and have enough space to live in . MTech hostels are beautiful .
Admission
I gave JEE Advanced examination, in which I secured 3129 rank and after that I selected preferences during josaa counseling which lead me to the aerospace branch of iit kanpur . After the counseling, an admission letter was sent and the day of reporting was informed to me
