Likes
- The campus is absolutely ragging free. This is very rare in engineering colleges.
- The air inside the campus is very clean,and the hostels are maintained regularly.
- The peer group is excellent, comprising of the brightest minds in the country.
Dislikes
- Very poor gender ratio. The sex ratio is approximately 1:4 and you rarely ever get to talk to a girl.
- Since the students comprise of elite rankers, all course exams without exception have high competition.
- Teachers have very poor teaching skills. You have to do extensive work on your own in understanding the course material.
Course Curriculum Overview
The faculty is chosen on basis of research and not teaching skills and therefore they are bad at teaching. The students have to refer to outside resources for most of the courses like youtube etc.The faculty student ratio is around 1:10. The exams are usually difficult.
Internships Opportunities
For first year students, a mail appeared which offered 2 month long internship in tokyo. Another internship opportunity in quantum research was offered for students from the CSE and EE departments with over 9 cpi.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester students are eligible to sit for campus placements. The average last year was 27 lakh. However,due to recession, many students were unplaced,and the placement was very poor compared to normal years.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fees is around 1 lakh per semester and if your TFI (total family income) is within 5 lakh you avail 100% tuiton fees waiver,under the MCM (merit cum means) scholarship. Further more,if you qualify as a Teaching Assistant for any course,you get a fixed monthly stipend.
Campus Life
The main cultural fest is antaragini, it was held in october last year, the tech fest is techkriti, and will be held in march. There are a plethora of academic books in the national famous P.K. library. The sports facilities are excellent too.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels for second year onward students are 60 years old, and have poor condition. The first year hostel was finished in 2016 and has the best condition in the campus. The meal quality has generally been decent. All basic facilities are aptly covered in the hostel.
Admission
The admission criteria was based on jee advanced score,which involved physics chemistry and maths. The application form,fees and dates can be found on the jee adv website. The paper's total marks varies every year and is roughly around 360 marks,120 per subject. The top 7 IITs have a higher cutoff than usual.
