Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Mine and my family's dream. Each batch consists of 250 students, divided into 5 groups based on roll number. Each subject is taught by at least 2 teachers from the faculty, which may be rotated more or less frequently. Approx 1:25 or 1:16 is the ratio commonly seen per group. All faculties are found to be at least MD aspirants or MD qualified, who already hold the degree of MBBS. Teaching method is more leaning towards self directed learning (SDL), which is stressed on quite a lot in this college. Exams are taken pretty frequently, as the departments take the performance of students very seriously. For 1st year students, the exams might be a bit difficult to adapt to compared to the MCQ preparation of NEET, but that is nothing to be discouraged about.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Internship can be availed by the students after they pass their final professional exam and then successfully complete their exit examination, namely the National Exit Test, or NExT. Their place of internship is the college of enrolment itself, and their MD/MS course and college is determined by their rank.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are 750 per month, which amounts to 4500 every 6 months, or 9000 per year. No such news of fee hike policy is known to the reviewer. Scholarships can be availed from various benefactors. For WB students, the SVMCM is one such scholarship of note, along with others from Reliance Foundation and so on.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual fest, named Lobelia, is arguably the largest fest amongst all the other medical colleges of Kolkata, and in turn, West Bengal, usually held around the time of Durga Puja. 1st years receive their fresher's party, Metamorfosis, from their immediate seniors. Several other seminars and workshops are also held for the students to participate in. All the books and various journals that a student might need are available to be issued in the library. Classrooms are equipped with screens, projectors and speakers, along with tables and fire extinguishers at multiple spots. Sports and extracurricular activities are promoted greatly in the college, where students can hone their talents easily with the help of classmates and seniors. The college has a unit for the welfare of students, namely the Trina Mool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP). Students' have the facility to consult any of the members regarding any problem.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very noble. It gives us the power to heal others. When I was a child, i was impressed by the ability and skills of a doctor. The patient family were treating him like god. So i decided to pursue it because of the amount of respect and wealth we gain. In the real world it helps us to become a good person, interact with the injured society and connect to the people emotionally. Teaching methods could be improved by giving more and more real life examples and exposing to the wards and clinics. Learning is more fun when we do more practicals. The college must ensure that more and more practical classes and clinical exposure is given to the students so that they can learn effeciently. The cases of the cirriculum should be given to the students to look how they handle it.

The concept of education is misunderstood my many students. Students want to study in order to make money and become rich so that they can fulfill their wants. Similarly money is invested by parents in terms of the amount of investment it will reap in the future. Because of this reason females are not given much higher education in our country.
