Likes

The library of the college consisting of all rare, first hand copies of expensive books.
The various seminars that takes place in the college based on such different issues.
The faculty of the college is extremely knowledgeable.

Dislikes

The college doesn't conduct fests or other programmes like that.
The administration is often rude and irresponsible.
The college has space crunch and some classrooms are too small.

I have always wanted to pursue my careers in psychology and Gokhale is one of the oldest and reputed institution in the city for this discipline. The department consists of 6 professors and 40 students on average. The associate professors have doctorate and the assistant professors have either complete their b.ed and m.phil. The faculty is pretty good and knowledgeable. The semesters usually happen in time and you need to put in enough effort to pass.

Class Size: 50Course Fees: INR 15000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is approximately 7.5k per semester. The scholarship like Kanyashree and Vivekananda scholarships are given according to the terms of state government. Its a semi government and hence fee hikes aren't that frequent.

Campus Life

Campus life isn't that great since the college mainly focuses on academics. There is annual sports and annual cultural programme every year but fests aren't that common. The library although is filled with rich sources of rare and expensive books. College has clubs like cultural club, literary club and nss which are pretty active.

Admission

The course is eligible for students who have secured atleast 50% in their 12th boards. The application form is available on college website but there was no application fees during 2021 due to covid 19. Reservation benefits are available for SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates on submission of required documents. The admission process is quite smooth but the website can be improved.

I want to know bengali literature and all type of poems and proses that's why I choose B.a. in bengali literature. According to me, my course helps me in doing Masters in Bengali. From the point of view of improvements, I feel that digital classes can be conducted in the class by leaving the theory classes. We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.

Presidency University: A hope of light but needs a lot of upgradation

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Department of Bengali is one of the oldest Bengali department in the state. It offers undergraduate honours and postgraduate courses. Recently, they have started PhD courses as well. The Bengali department is actively engaged in research in hot topics in literature. The curriculam of Presidency university is most diverse among all other University, colleges in the state. It begins with very basic topics at the first year and ends with very specific research level papers at the final year. The syllabus is so advance that bachelors students can compare themselves with the masters level students after completeing the course. I will mention the bachelor course curriculam in summary: Semester I- Prachin Bangla Sahitya O Bangalir Itihas sandhan, Bangla bhasar itihas o bhasatotto, Semester II- Prak chaitanya juger bangla sahityer itihas, Madhyajuger bangla sahityer itihas o kabyapath, Semester III- Shorosh o soptodosh shotabdir samaj: itihas o chaitanyadeb, Ashtadosh shatabdir samaj sangkriti, changa-alanlkar o prof sangsodhan, Semester IV- Adhunik juger udbhab, gadya o probondho sahitya, kabya-kabitae itihas, natoker itihas o rupbhed, Semester V- Bangla Upanyas, Bangla chotogolpo, Rabindranath, Semester VI- Unish o Bish shataker bangla samaj songskriti o sahitya, bhinna bhasar sahityer itihas o tar obhighat, bharatiya alangkar shatra, sahitya o shilpo. Other than these compulsory courses, there are lot of exceptional elective courses that attracted me more towards joining this prestigious university. Since Presidency University select specific students through their difficult entrance tests, the semester exams should not be difficult for the students, but there are some papers in the course which needs to delt with extra care and attention to get extra marks.

One of the Best college in India.

I had applied for Ashutosh college, Muralidhar college, bethun college and Gokhale Memorial Girl's College for BSC psychology. But I did not get BSC psychology in bethune college so I was waiting for other colleges though my dream college was Gokhale Memorial girls College. First I had got a call from Muralidhar college and then after 2 to 3 days I got a call from vocal Memorial girls College. By call I meant that first my name came in the Muralidhar girls College merit list and then my name was published in the Gokul Memorial girls College merit list as this is my dream college I choose it over other colleges. Do not go by the past glory.

The admission was smooth, but in the payment process, I didn't get my money back from few colleges I applied for but didn't continue. All the candidates should keep an update of news and links of admission. SC and ST will get benifits along with OBCs, Calcutta University has bad placements and the syllabus has become a Little bit difficult.
