One branch is divided into four batches. Hence, Class capacity is very low.

Course Curriculum Overview

A Civil Engineer can analyse and build various constructions. The faculty student ratio is around 1:20. Teaching method varies from one faculty to another. some faculties use their own notes whereas some use ppts. Most of the faculties have done their PhD from IITs. There is Mid-term and End-sem exam and assignments/quizzes in between.

Internships Opportunities

Many companies offer internships at NIT Calicut. L&T, TATA, BHEL, Wipro etc. offer internships with stipend.There is a summer internship program provided by the institute with a monthly stipend about 5000/-.

Placement Experience

197 companies visited and about 1200 students got offers. The highest package of this year was 47 lpa and average was 14 lpa. About 90-95 percent students got placement offers. I would like to enter into the structural engineering field after completing my course.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fee is 125000 per year.But according to their income,students can avail fee waiver. Student category with annual income below 1 lakh can get completefee waiver. Financial support like Education loan and scholarships are also provided by the institute.

Campus Life

There are two major campus fests named as 'Tathva' and 'Ragam'. Usually 'Tathva' takes place in October-November and 'Ragam' takes place in March-April. There is a 24/7 open Central Library in the campus. There are clubs for every sports items including kabadi.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel is nice. Food quality is good. We have variety of dishes and so many snack options too. There is a unique app for Hostel.we can get updates about mess and hostel dues in tha app. We can register for Hostel on the reporting day.

Hostel Fee: INR 66000 per year

Admission

Those who qualify Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main can apply for the six round JoSAA allocation process. More than 95 percentile is required get alloted in any course. Academic counselling and physical reporting is done afterwards.

from semister 6 students become eligible for campus placements and companies loke bank of america , google microsoft etc visited for campus placements and the highest package is about 54 lakhs where as average is 11 lakhs and about 98% of the students are placed

Placement Experience:

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Placement Experience:

As of what i spoke to the seniors they said that AI students got better placements compared to Core students and the average package is around 9LPA for CSE branches students and 7LPA overall for all the branches and there is CIR foundation classes where they teach us how to improve our communication skills and How to create a resume right from first year itself according to seniors it is very helpfull

An aspiring first year student’s review

Placement Experience:

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.

I have choosen this college because it is of top 5 NITs and i am getting a good branch. I have apllied for remaining top nits also, but i got this for my jee mains rank( i couldn't make to other top nits because may be of lack of good preperation for jee). When compared to remianing NITs, this college has everything that every other NIT also have, the sports facilities here can be improved. Life at NITC by Vimosh Kumar

I wanted to get into Mechanical Engineering in any of the top NIT's so applied for all the NIT's in the NIRF ranking order with mechanical in every college so after the counselling happened to get into NIT Calicut. The admission process is through JoSAA Counselling where students come to the college after getting alloted but before that the student needs to clear the JEE Main Exam to get admitted into the college. Accordind to NIRF rankings this is the top 27 Engineering college in India and top 3rd NIT. Admission process is only through JEE Mains Exam. You need very good percentile to join this college. Nit Calicut very good placements too....Read More
