Remarks

The college management has been great. They know exactly how to drive courses. The best part is when courses adapt to industry standards, year on year. I haven't seen any bad/Illd going from the college in the 4 years I spent there,

Entrance Preview

Christ was home to me for 4 full years. Practical sessions for Hotel Management students, timings were often erratic! 6 years post graduating from that paradise called university, I cherish every one of those days I spent there. The quality of education compared to the competition universities is Par Excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

4 years were classified into theory/ practical (Basics), theory/practical (Mediocre level) with an addition of 4 core subjects of the hotel industry, 3 rd year was industrial exposure (I Trained at the Walt Disney World, Florida), and 4th year has subjects of specialisation and ancillary subjects like Hotel Law, Hotel Accounting etc.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, Christ Does provide internships. Leading 5 Star hotels of the city are very well associated with the college. I was a part of the Walt Disney Internship program at Orlando, Florida. We were the first batch of interns from Southern India.

Placement Experience

5

Excellent. With the knowledge, facilities and exposure inculcated over 4 years, the hotels across the city are waiting to grab students of Christ University into any of the Core departments. There is a 100% placement history that the College has had in the longest time.

College Events

4

Festivals would pertain to the course we studied. Every batch in the fourth year would have to put up a stall, cook food (That includes menu designing, ingredient sourcing, Menu pricing, execution of the stall, etc) and make the business flourish. The profits were shared equally amongst the team. So for every junior, there was a stall that they could look up to, that was created by their seniors.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Was fairly expensive for the year we studied . it was 60,000 for the first two years, and 80,000 for the next two years.. The internship cost was entirely borne by us. The fees was for all practical sessions. However, all study material was to be bought at an extra cost, Books for every year, Kitchen Clogs, Knife Kits, Uniforms etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The College, back then had no such facility of a scholarship or Loan facility. this was at least the case for the hotel management course.

Campus Life

5

Campus life was brilliant. Apart from academics, extra curricular activities such as Trekking, or Game between different courses of the college were entertained. The library was BIG and had almost any genre of book to read up on. There were quite a few eateries on campus to go to for a small bite or lunch.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Facilities pertaining to hostel was only for Girls. There was no provision for the boys. Of what we heard from batch mates, the hostel was good. Food was good too. However, the wardens were too strict for kids in their 20's. Even a late night would require written permission from the parents living in other cities etc.

Alumni/Alumna

We have a group of the alumni . There is a get together once a year, most often on 26th January, follows by a lavish Dinner. inputs from the alumni working at various hotels are taken well and even incorporated in the curriculum.

Exam Structure

The course was semester based. Periodic tests were taken. The exam system revolved around credits. Practicals were based on cuisines taught to us and the same had to be cooked during an exam.

Admission

We had a few rounds of interviews, followed by a Group discussion and the final trade test. post the trade test, there was a small discussion of why one would want to join the nurse and then they'd take you in if they though you were worthwhile in the hotel industry.Very legitimate questions asked right through the interview.

Faculty

5

Very Knowledgeable and most of all, they always knew how to inculcate knowledge to their students. High level of involvement in all subjects or projects they'd make us take up. The lecturers themselves were serving in hotels of the 5 star cadre in the past, hence relating theory to examples of real life was a lot easier for them at any given point in time.
