Journey of a mechanical engineer in SGGS

Overall speaking about the Mechanical engineering department. Great lab facilities, cooperative staff, great atmosphere and okay faculty. Since I left the college a lot of faculties have been changed. So I can't say much about the new faculty. Being an autonomous college, all the papers are set and checked by the college faculties themselves. So there are not many worries regarding that.

I myself did an internship from CEAT pvt. ltd. I was not provided with a stipend but got a lot to learn from. Other than my experience a lot of my friends were provided with internships at Stipend that go from 5000 to 25000 per month.

The campus sees a wide range of companies and job offers during the placement seasons. One can see mostly Tech/IT companies approaching the campus. The core companies do come but hire a limited number of students. Other than that many students also receive pre-placement offers.

The fees are as per government norms of reservation and all. General has the highest while SC/ST is the lowest. The only scholarship form you need to be aware of is social justice. There are no such Campus jobs available. Although MTech students can work as faculty/Lab assistants and get paid.

Life on the campus is pretty chill. The campus provides great sports facilities along with the natural beauty of flora and fauna. There are 3 main events the campus holds; Cultural fest, Pragyaa- Tech Fest and Zenith-Sports Fest. Along with that one can enjoy celebrating different festivals. The campus also has a lot of student-run clubs for various activities and interests. Chitraksha, avaroh, fetal dance, Gandharva, Bhaskaracharya, matrix, Robotic for Next Generation, Society of Automotive Engineers(Baja-Supra), etc

I have stayed in campus Hostel, non-Campus hostels and flats as well. I would say all the facilities were good. The Campus hostel provided a lot of facilities like indoor sports room, Gymnasium, mess, despensory, badminton court, and etc. 24 hrs hot water facility with washing machine and wifi is also provided. A room is shared by generally 3 students depending on the number of students allotted the hostel. The boys hostel accomodates limited number of students depending upon the marks scores by them in CET and incamous academic performance. While the Girls hostel accomodates all the girls who were admitted to the clg.

SGGSIEnT takes admission using 2 ways; CET and JEE mains. Either of the scores or ranks are considered during admission. You need a minimum of 92% for sure shot selection. The admissions are taken using DTE cap rounds. For Reservation candidates, tuition fees are waived and only examination and other essential fees are to be paid.
