Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Computer Science and Engineering because I am interested in coding and it's the most difficult branch to get into and my rank was enough to get this course. Faculty: The student ratio is right. For the first year, there is one professor for 80-90 students in a class, but we get a personal teacher guardian which is the same for only 10 students. The faculty is qualified to teach us as they have done their btech and then masters and PhD from recognised institutes, both Indians as well as abroad, such as NITs. The teaching method is good enough to make our concept clear in classes. They teach through presentations explain every topic and get us to practice a few questions from each topic daily. Term exams happen twice a semester, mid-term and end-term exams. Mid-term exams are easy if you study even a week before you can score better than the majority of students. For the end sem, your concepts should be cleared as they are lengthy and tricky. Mid 30 marks 2 hours, end sem 50 marks 3 hours long
Internships Opportunities
MIT Manipal offers summer internship programs. May to June. Every student must have one internship before their 4th year starts. Internships are based on your CGPA, test and interviews. Students get internships abroad also. Some internships have no pay while the same pays 100000 per month to students. Students even do internships at companies like Microsoft and Cisco.
Placement Experience
The placements start in the 7th semester for btechs. The 8th semester is for internships. A total of 339 companies came, out of which 275 were for BTech students. 92.9 percent of students get placed on an average, where the lowest package is 8.5 Lpa and the highest is 54.75 Lpa. The average package is 12.5 Lpa. The top 50 students get an average package of 36 LPA. My plan after completion of my degree is to get a job above 20Lpa or start my own startup.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost to study on average is 1850000. We get scholarships based on MET ranks, and CGPA. If you can score a 9 CGPA and your rank is under 250 in the MET exam, you get a full scholarship in first-year fees. Your scholarship ranges from 40000-90000 based on your CGPA. If you are from a weaker financial household, you get a scholarship. The campus jobs are good. We get companies like Deloitte, Philips, Oracle, Flipcart and various other companies. The average package is 1250000 and the highest goes up to 5400000.
Campus Life
The annual feat is Revels, a cultural fest, conducted in April. Tech Fest is Tech Tatva conducted in October. The library has a variety of books. You can issue two books from the academic section and one book from the literature section, at once. The classrooms have AC cooling, roof-to-floor windows, a projector for presentations, a white screen, a big enough blackboard, a stage and podium for professors and nice lighting.
Admission
Admission to MIT Manipal is through the MET exam, it's the college's own entrance exam. Eligibility was above 50 per cent in maths, physics and chemistry (12th marks). The application form was given and submitted through MIT Manipal's own website. It's conducted twice a year. The fee to take the exam is 2000 (600 for the exam and 1400 for entrance). MIT has its own portal for students where we can check our forms and exam dates and raise queries. Our marks were also given in that student dashboard after the compilation of results. No improvements are required in the admission process. The test difficulty level was medium and there was a timer and you can't go back to a question after you attempt it. Overall experience was good and the colleges chosen for conducting exams were cooperative.
