MIT Manipal - a short review

The course curriculum is at par with many good colleges. Although there are some unnecessary subjects like EVS and bio taught in the first year, the curriculum from 2nd year is pretty good. The student-faculty ratio is pretty good. I dont know the exact numbers but my branch has about 80 students which is pretty compact. faculties are highly qualified and extremely knowledgeable about their subjects.

The placement cell of MIT gives a lot of importance to internships and eventually PPO. A good amount of students get internships in big companies in India as well as outside of India. Also, you can opt for internships apart from the campus.

The placement at MIT is good. The average package is about 12 lakhs. You have to be pretty skilled to grab a placement from top companies such as Microsoft. Many world-class companies visit the campus for placements.

the fee structure seems a bit on the expensive side. you can avail of a scholarship if you get a meritorious rank in met or you are among the top rankers in your branch. there are not many jobs for students inside the campus but you can always explore the city of Udupi.

Tech Tatva is the official tech fest held in the month of October whereas Revels is the cultural fest that takes place in Feb/march season. The fests are quite good as many talented performers are invited to the campus and the organizing committees are always trying it to be a very nice experience. The library of MIT is extremely loaded with books and journals. Every book you would want to read will be available. Classrooms are big and modern with ACs and projectors. the seats are comfortable. No problems there.

The rooms in hostel 16,17,19,20 are pretty good as good as hotel rooms whereas you can witness a proper hostel life experience in the old blocks such as 5,6. the facilities are good. There are several messes you can opt for while on campus. Some are famous for their food while others are for their ambience.

Admissions are carried out by an examination called MET. You can opt for the branch preferences when the results are out. The cutoff for computer branches generally closes at 6800. The admission process after that is pretty seamless, you will not face much difficulty at the time of enrollment.
