Likes

This is a beautiful campus with plenty of places to explore and plenty of trips to go to.
the weather and infracture is quite a site to behold
the labs and all classrooms are also neat and clean

Dislikes

There are plenty of restriction for first year students.
The climate is kinda cold out here so some people might not feel so better.
and hostel food sucks sometimes as much as i hate to say it

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose computer science and damn it was a right decision cause I came to love it here. Also the staff and teachere are good at teaching with many having doctrate degreee. The exams' difficulty varied but it was'nt so tough if you put right amount of effort and were attentive in class.

Class Size: 150Course Fees: INR 150000 per year

Placement Experience

There are plenety of placements and there are also many people who do internship in their 2nd year. But as this is mountaineous region so company visit is kinda low. But the percentage of placements is up to 100 percent for cs students.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees hike is for those whose finally income is above a 5 lakh. Otherwise the fees is not that high. However scholarships opportunity is mostly for SC and ST students and there are minimal schemes for general student.

Campus Life

In our college there are two fests every year one is technical and other is cultural. The cultural fest is called hillfaire and tech fest is called nimbus. Both are grand events and are much awaited. There are many clubs of music, dance, dramatics and also departmental clubs also present.

Hostel Facilities

The meals are...well just say they are ok. Hostel is affordable but the quality is not so good. There are fans and lan cables here though lan probably don't work on many rooms but it is being repaired recently. Also one gb free wifi is providid to everyone.

Hostel Fee: INR 80000 per year

Admission

The admission process was quite rough. First we have to take part in counciling and after that we got a seat acceptance letter we got a sit in that other round otherwise repeat. Than we have to do online submission of documents. After this a physical reporting to ensure correctness of documents. We also have to pay seat acceptance fees and some amount of admission fees to secure our seats. Than we go alloted our respective hostels and we have to visit them and see if everything's right, put our things and decide to leave or stay in the hostel. That's all.

Placement Experience:

At NIT Hamirpur, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards, and the placement scenario has been quite encouraging in recent years. A wide range of companies such as Infosys, Wipro, L\&T, Capgemini, Tata Projects, and several core as well as IT firms visit the campus every year. The highest placement touched an impressive 2.05 crore offered to a mechanical engineering student, while the overall average package stands at around 10.5 LPA, which is a strong figure compared to many other NITs. The placement percentage remains high, with a majority of students securing offers, especially in branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, though core branches like civil and mechanical also receive good opportunities. The profiles offered include roles in software development, consulting, design, project engineering, and research. After completing my degree, I plan to take advantage of these placement opportunities to gain solid industry experience and later decide whether to pursue higher studies or competitive exams for broader career growth.

Admission:

I prepared for 2 years then cleared jee mains exam. The preparation was not hard though you need to be consistent with your studies. After the result I filled my counselling on jossa.nic.in with the priorities of colleges and branches. After that there were 7 rounds I got my seat in 6th round.

Everything about my college

When I was applying for engineering, I had filled applications for a few other NITs and state engineering colleges, but finally I chose NIT Hamirpur because of its good academic reputation, supportive campus environment, and better placement opportunities compared to the others. Some colleges I applied to had very high cutoffs and I couldn’t make it there because my JEE Main score was slightly lower than required, but NIT Hamirpur’s cutoff matched my rank, so I got admission here. The admission process was through JEE Main followed by JoSAA counseling, which is the most common and preferred route for B.Tech aspirants. The eligibility was 12th pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and the cutoff for civil engineering here was comparatively achievable for me. The overall admission process was transparent and smooth, from registering for counseling to final seat allotment. The admission was done by josaa. The admission process was easy. Simply go to their online portal and submit details and required documents. NIT Hamirpur offers more than 30 programmes at UG, PG and doctoral level. Candidates seeking admission to any of these courses must appear for the respective entrance exam and qualify its cutoff. NIT Hamirpur offers a four-year BTech programme across nine specialisations in full-time mode. The selection of candidates to NIT Hamirpurs BTech programme is based on their JEE Main score.
