- Faculty behaviour towards students , they are really supportive if you are good
- Fests/events - every week something is going on . You will get lots of opportunities to participate in various fun events
- Canteen - this is the best part of NIT Raipur campus. We have 3 canteens(bihan canteen , Vachan canteen , Indian coffee house (premium star level), 1 Amul parlour.
Dislikes
- lack of hostels is most probably the major issue in NIT Raipur since many years. Though there are many private pg's in surrounding. But this issue needs to be fixed .
- Campus size is not so big . We want more to explore Its just about 100 acres . Still the college main building too massive you won't be able to explore entire building in 1 year. All classes from first year to fourth year btech runs in same block
- Gym timings suck . Its only 2 hours open in evening for boys and in morning for girls.
Course Curriculum Overview
The reasons why I prefered this course of Biotechnology,there are two reasons first one is distance factor. I belong to Mumbai Maharashtra, Raipur is near as compared to other north situated NIT's where I was getting branches like civil , chemical. My parents didn't wanted me to go very far . Another reason is that I had Biology in 12th , so I preferred biotech over metallurgy. As biotech aligns with technical field. Also NIT Raipur has good Nirf and reputation among National Colleges. One thing very good about NIT Raipur is Faculty, faculty here is highly qualified and supportive. You can estimate from this data that few professors from NIT Raipur comes under top 2% scientists all over the world data released by harvard University. Talking about midsems, pdfs and reference books provided by professors in class are more than enough to crack exam . You just need to revise the pdf thoroughly and go through reference book once or two times.and you are good to go!
Internships Opportunities
Companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte, Facebook , Adobe visit campus. Top product based companies, allow all branches to sut for their placement rounds. I heard from one of my senior in electrical branch pre final year that last to last year Amazon picked more than 40 people from college for internship. A student from mining branch grabbed highest 55lpa in adobe
Placement Experience
Placements are decent. It doesn't not matter from which branch you are . If you have skills and have a cgpa of above 7-7.5 most companies allow students from every branch to sit for placements. If you are decent in studies and you managed to brush up your skills in these four years . You will grab a good package despite whatever your branch is.
Fees and Financial Aid
If you belong to any category, ews/obc/sc/st . You will get scholarship for sure . Sc / st students have 100% tution fee remission. If u belong to general category and your parent income is below 1 lakhs , then also you will get 100% tution fees remission.
Campus Life
Electica is the annual fest held in summers . Avartan is tech fest organised by technocracy club of NIT Raipur. Library is decent you will get mostly all types of books to study ranging from motivational books to deep diving conceptual books . Classrooms are large . With projector and smart board being installed in each class. Nice ventilation in rooms .
Admission
Student must pass his/her 10+2 with PCM with atleast 75% in boards . You can appear for National level engineering entrance exam JEE mains .If you have good rank , as per last year cutoffs of your desirable NIT . Cutoffs are different for different branch. Generally cutoffs are high for branches like cse , ece , electrical . As Me with CRL of around 68k , ~94%ile. I was getting branches like civil , chemical in north eastern NIT's. But biotech in NIT Raipur. It all depends on your rank and the college cutoff. Reservation are basically of two types . 1) Based on category: If you belong to any category ews/obc/sc/st/female . 2) Based on state of eligibility: 50% seats are reserved for home state students in every NIT. Me belonging to general category, I didn't got benifit of reservation. I personally think admissions to Institutes of National Importance must be devoid of category reservation , instead reservation should be based on financial condition. This will bring a revolution.
