Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course of mechanical engineering as firstly I didn't see myself doing anything else, secondly, this was the only branch I could get in NITC as it is one of the prestigious NICs. Faculty faculty-student ratio was good in the first year when all branches shared all subjects in common but now in the second year, we have core subjects so teachers are kind of fewer per subject like we have a hectic or weird timetable because of less faculty. ALL teachers around 95% are Ph. D.s from IITs or foreign universities, no problem with that. Exams are timely around a 1.5 to 2 months gap per exam series. like midsem after 2 months of starting semester then end sem after 1.5 months it varies. They are not very difficult they can be made difficult as per the syllabus they provide many students need to pass too so they ask some questions just to give marks.
Internships Opportunities
there are lots of internships available if the company chooses you. I am just a 2nd year at present but I'm told if you maintain your cgpa, gather skills like some coding or design software like cad or Ansys, and pass the company's test you'll get the chance. Guys are getting placements here so I think internships will also be there for sure.
Placement Experience
Campus placements are there if you cross the minimum CGPA mark. We have lots of big companies with the highest package being 50 laks(yeah CS) and 4 lakhs per annum idk which branch so the average is somewhere 14 lakhs p/a. Caterpillar, Infosys, Tata, Bajaj, Axis Bank many more you can go to nitc website for this there is a detailed report there. just check the website. My plan is probably MTech I don't know I am not studying enough for gata let see what happens.
Fees and Financial Aid
NITC is one of the expensive all NITs. If you get any other NIT better than this then take it. Compared to private it is way better but in contrast to governments its costly. Also i am general (wish i wasn't) and above 8 lakh family income so i get no benifits whatsoever. But if you are super intelligent and can be on top of your batch with high CGPA as 9+ then you can get one type of scholarship irrespective of your social status. If you are from SC,St,OBC feeses will be less as u already know. They are many scholarships available like E-GRANTZ, SILA and many targeted for different students with low income or girls too.
Campus Life
We have two main annual fests RAGAM and TATHVA which are cultural and technical fest respectively. Ragam is south India's biggest cultural fest. Generally former happens in March or April and the latter happens in november or something. Dates can change no sureity in that. The library is super big and so many of them like central, and then libraries dedicated to each department. Books are enough if you come on time to issue them otherwise keep chilling in your room, many subscriptions to research sites like Science directs, Research Gate, and more. Classrooms are basic with fans, projectors, and good seats. we have every possible sport here like most sports clubs are present here. We have clubs like unwired, aero unwired, robotics interest group, debate &cultural group, book club, ai club, foss cell, GDSC, and many more all run by students and each club has a dedicated website run by students themselves.
Admission
My admission was through Jee Main CSAB round 2. The cut-off for mechanical brach was close to my percentile of 96.75. So luckily I got in my favorite branch. There's no application as such just follow JOSAA counselling steps, they tell everything from filling choices to getting your letter for admission. It is difficult to make correct choices of colleges and branches so research carefully and thoroughly.
Other Applied Colleges
NIT Warangal | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)
actually did not get it my rank was not enough for qualification
