Facilities provided by the institute for academics and other co-curricular activities.
A transport facility for visiting main city.
seniors are very co-operative and helpful.

Dislikes

not much to write.. infrastructure is still in progress..but now it is almost complete
mess food distribution system can be improved
the nearby areas are little undeveloped..can be improved but doesn't matter much as almost all the time you are going to be inside the campus

Course Curriculum Overview

I opted for Computer Science because, I had interest in this field. And the faculties here are also good. And being a 2nd Gen IIT, all the faculty here are young and more energetic.Always ready to help you around. And the faculty ratio is too good around 1:9. All are highly Qualified and well equipped with the knowledge that we require. Ihe institute also conduct all the exam and Quizes timely on a moderate level.

Internships Opportunities

As i have already mentioned ( currently in 1st year) ,don't have much experience.But if you have skills, you can start collabarating with Seniors as they have contact in the companies. You will also start getting mail regarding these.

Placement Experience

As currently I am in 1st year, don't have much idea about the placement, interns, and companies visiting. But the stats of previous year are quite impressive and growing fast.There is also a organisation CDPC entirely for placement related topics.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is similar to other IITS. The total fees to be paid during whole 8 semester is around 10 lacs. But there are many fee waivers too like depending on your family annual income you will get fee waivers and for pwds also...and then there are many based on academics. And then there are funds organised by colleges to help those in need.

Campus Life

As it is my first semester(2023), it would not be right to comment on the campus life. But till now, I have enjoyed my college life.Freshers' Party was organised by seniors.Hackathon (Tech) is going to be organised now. Our Annual fest Zeitgeist is going to held in November this year(2023).There are two more fest namely Arohan(Sports fest) and Advitiya (Tech fest). Other than this,IYSC(Inter Year Sports ) is also conducted every year, where each year student compete with ech other in different sports. There are a lot of clubs and socities also almost of every field.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facilities is quite good.We get lan and wifi facilities in each hostel here. Washing machine are also provided on each floor. Sports and Gym equipment are also there. Then there are common room where you can watch anything or stream collectively. Mess are also good. There are varieties of food in the menu including non-veg etc..

Hostel Fee: INR 12500 per year

Admission

To get admission into an IIT, an applicant has to clear JEE (Mains +ADVANCED) entrance test. The form for the same is floated by NTA first for JEE Mains and then by JEE Advance for the Jee Advanced.There are benefits of Caste Resevations also, as each IIT has some reserved seats for each category. The process for the admission after this is conducted by JOSSA and everything goes smothly after that..

Likes

supportive campus environment with the comfortable in the classess
faculty most faculty members are very much supportive and they guide the students in the right way only
events are there in the campus provided by the campus.

Dislikes

limited practical exposure is provided by the campus and also there should be more hand on international events
infrastructure is not that good , as they were should on the online it is dii
Placement cell provides opportunities but the stronger industry connections.

Placement Experience:

placements at my college are very very good, as everybody gets the chance to sit for the placements at the same level. we get the placement oportunities at the 6th semster also. in my brancg it is very good

A Vibrant Campus with good learning and great opportunities

Likes

good infrastructure , large libraries and practical labs
helpful and large opportunities in campus

Dislikes

class size can be large , it helps every child to interact
academic work is quite high , the schedule may feel hectic especially during examination

The curriculum is relevant and covers core cse subjects like programing DSA and DBMS . it provides good fundamental for placements and further studies , more practical projects and industry based teaching would improve it .

75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience
Hostel mess food is not good at some time
Placement is decent and average as like other collage

I like my couse btech with computer science because it has high change to geeting high paying jobs and to build a successful career with my opinion they can improve their faculty with higher education qualification

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The best out of best about iit ropar

I applied to iit gandhinagar electrical engineering and got rejected as my jee advanced rank was not as par as required to take the course.the admission process of our college is based on an examination called jee advanced and if u get a good rank and pass that examination u can enter our college.i also applied for iit hyd,iit jodhpur etc in which I have got an admission in another branch as I said earlier as I like the electrical engineering branch I joined iit ropar .or college might be worst in sports in comparison to other iits but they are always better than other iits in reasearch orientation side...Read More
