Course Curriculum Overview

3

I opt this course because I want to be a researcher in the future. The faculty is 10:10 (student ratio), Every faculties are Doctorate, The teaching method is good but less seen in the chalk and board method. Term exams were on time but the syllabus is too vast to cover it in 4 months and this west bengal state university doesn't give the exam routine on time. few days before the exam they give the exam routine due to these students get panic.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees hike policy is good, every student from different backgrounds can afford it but still, I will request them to less the cost of the course because besides course cost there is a lot more for a student to spend like those who live in the hostel they need to pay hostel fees, stationary things, for food. I get a Swami Vivekananda scholarship from the campus.

Campus Life

1.5

The annual fest's name is 'Dhun' but since 2021 they never conducted the fest and are not willing to conduct it in the future also very disappointing. There are very less sports and extracurricular activities on campus. It occurs just as an eye wash for a University. I think curricular activities are important for each and every student for their refreshment and health improvement. Most of the books on microbiology are not available in the library. Classrooms are not neat and clean. There is no social group or club.

Admission

There was no entrance exam for my course. Eligibility criteria were needed 12th pass. Application forms will be available on the website of the college. Reservation benefits are given according to caste(a particular number of seats are allotted to them). And everything is good.

Other Applied Colleges

Asutosh College | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Microbiology)

Because I was not having maths in my 12th so unable to fill the form and maths was mandatory criteria for it

My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

In today's competitive job market it becomes important for the college to not just help students get degrees but also provide them with placements and internships so that they can have the experience needed to stand at a competitive footing with the rest of the candidates in the world. To look into this, St. Xavier's College has a Placement Cell run by Placements officer Mr. Niladri Sinha under whose guidance, various companies visit the college regularly looking for capable young minds to take under their wing and help provide them with the necessary exposure and experience so that they can combat any obstacles that they face.

The college offers good placements for economis. Students in their final year are eligible for campus placements and there is a cell dedicated to placements. Many students do not opt for placements and go for higher studies but many students who opt for it, get placed with decent packages. Many well-known companies visit the campus as well.
