I took admission for ME in chemical engineering in 2005. That time, there was an entrance examination at BITS Pilani (Raj). First there was an objective type of exam which included basic knowledge of the chemical engineering & general knowledge. They did not declared the marks but those who cleared the written examination were called for interview. Interview was also mainly on the core knowledge of the chemical engineering. Five people were there in the panel & they took interview for an hour. Finally the merit list was disaplayed for the admission.

Course curriculum was good and was mainly focusing on the detailed information of the subject studied during BE. The subjects mainly covering the advancements in the chemical engineering. The Department of Chemical Engineering also offers a specialization degree such as M.E. (Chemical) with specialization in Petroleum Technology. All enrolled students will have to register for same set of compulsory core courses to meet the requirements of the M.E. (Chemical) programme. For Petroleum Technology specialization, students will have to complete 3 courses from a pool of Petroleum Technology related elective courses (as identified by the Department of Chemical Engineering) to meet requirements of the Degree.

The college provides the internship in the last semester. In the fourth semester of the Masters degree, either you have to do project in the college campus or can go for the internship. I choose to do project in the college campus But some of my friends did internship & they got stipend of about Rs 15000-20000.

The placements at BITS Pilani is excellent. In our batch placement was 100 %. Many people got 2 jobs. The chemical companies came for placements were BOC, BORL, UOP etc & the packages were in the range of 6.2 - 7.5 LPA. Software companies came for placements were TCS, CTS, infosys, satyam, wipro etc and the package was in the range of 3.5 - 5.0 LPA.

In the year 2005, The fee was around Rs 30000 per semester. Looking at the figure, the fee structure looks like expensive but it is feasible. You can get different scholarships such as scholarship for the GATE qualified students etc. You can also join the teaching assistance and earn money to pay your fees while studying.

No I did not availed any scholarship and as per knowledge college do not offer any scholarship or loan facility. But you can get different scholarships such as scholarship for the GATE qualified students from the central education board. Gender ratio in the college was good, may be around 30-35 %. There were students from all the parts of the country with all the religions. We used to celebrate all the festivals. About extracurricular activities, there were clubs for the different activities such as sports, cultural, photography which can help you to work on your interest area.

Hostel and mess facilities were good in the campus. There were two options: single occupancy or sharing. Hostel rooms were quite big, clean and neat. Mess food was also good. During those days the mess was used to run by the student committee with no loss

The alumni network is also quite strong. Now also I am getting invitations for different alumni meets at college or at few major cities.

There will be written exam of 80 marks & project of 20 marks for each subject. There was a grading system. Exam structure was not much hectic but was keeping us busy.We have never felled any tension, rather we enjoyed the projects. Many times to complete
