IIT INDORE college review

I have an interest in maths and computer subjects. Additionally, the currently most demanded branch is computer science which has a substantial job option, so I went with this course. Here the faculty-student ratio is nearly 1:12. All of the faculty have completed their bachelor's, master's and PhD and have a vast experience in their fields. Here the teaching is done mainly on the projected screen. The teachers' teaching style is perfect for some teachers, and others have average. They have their teaching assistance of PhD and Masters students taking the tutorial classes for the students, which helps the student in learning how to deal with the questions and review the concepts. The term exams were too early for 1st two semesters due to covid conditions. The papers were easy to moderate level except few were challenging of maths. To just pass them, one has to just attend the classes and tutorial sessions attentively.

The major companies that give internships are Amazon, TVS, Microsoft, Flipkart and others too. The stipend they provide varies between 80000 to 1.5 lakh per month. The interns generally have to participate in the peer code review, debugging it, creating new applications, analysing the data and formulating the solutions.

After the 2nd year, the students get internship opportunities and mostly end with pre-placement offers. In the 8th semester, the companies come with job opportunities in the college for on-campus placements. The leading companies are Amazon, Flipkart, TVS, Microsoft, Jio and Deloitte. This year(2023), the highest CTC offered was 68 LPA, and the average was 25.45 LPA. Specifically for CSE, the average was 32.6 LPA. The percentage of students getting placements was 89.76. My plan after getting the degree is to work for a private company with a good package.

Here the tuition fee is 1 lakh, and then the mess and hostel take it to nearly 140000 for one semester for general students with a parental income of more than five lakhs per annum. For other category students, it varies according to their caste and parental income too. There are scholarships here in college but for low-income families or backward castes only. The bank here on campus provides student loans if they want. There are no jobs for 1st year students but after 2nd year students get internship opportunities on campus.

Fluxus is the annual techno-cultural fest of this college which is held in March. This fest is generally for three days. There are many clubs for the students lying in three categories- technological, cultural and sports. There are more than 38000 books and 2700 e-Journals in the library. These books cover almost all fields from fictional stories to engineering subjects to social books. There is AC in every classroom and a digital setup with a projector. Also, there are cameras in each class. There are many grounds and courts to play any sport you want on campus. Dancing, singing, drama, yoga and many more are there extracurricular activities. There is a programming club that is run mainly by the CSE students and they also have their own website.

The hostels on the campus are like 6 BHK apartments. Every room out of 6 is given to different students. There are toilet and bathing rooms common for all 6 students. Each room has all the basic facilities like a fan, almirah, bed and other things. There is a separate dining building, common for all students. The meal quality is average, and on some days, it is really good. The Menu mostly consists of veg items with a few non-veg things too. The registration process is done while taking admission only. The fee is 17000 for 4 months which is affordable for a medium-class family.

To get admission in this course, the student has to clear class 12th with at least 75% marks in PCM or PCMB course. After that, the student has to give entrance exams, JEE Main and Advanced. In this exam, there are different cutoffs for different caste categories; according to that, everyone gets various colleges and branches during JoSAA counselling. After counselling and selecting the colleges, everyone gets an offer letter from the college. The application form, application dates, along with other essential details and documents, are available on the official website of the colleges. These important documents have to be signed and submitted to the college in offline mode. There is also a medical checkup along with some vaccines that are required to be done before joining the college. After doing all these, the complete admission process is done. Just one improvement I can think of is to fasten this process, as it takes a lot of time and patience.
