Course Curriculum Overview
I mostly prefer studying hardware instead of coding and software so I took ECE as my branch of study. There are about 600 ECE students in my batch and about 150 faculties for ECE alone. VIT provides great student-to-ratio faculty. Every faculty work here has PhD qualification or at least MS. Almost every faculty is easily available for any doubts and everyone is kind and helpful to anyone approaching them. They conduct 2 CAT exams(Continuous Assessment Test) and a FAT(Final Assessment Test) each semester. Each semester is about 4.5-6 months depending on each semester. Exams are held every 1.5 months. Exams are moderate level difficult and some papers are hard depending upon the stream which you study.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies that visit for placements provide internship opportunities for juniors too. If one couldn't get an internship, The placement cell provides a global certification course to claim the summer internship credits. Every student works with different faculties for their final year capstone project and they get hands-on experience with what every company expects since the projects are made with the collaboration of several companies.
Placement Experience
From 6th semester students are eligible for placements/Internships. All global companies including Microsoft, Intel, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Bank of America, Siemens, Amazon, Paypal, CISCO, etc visit the campus every year. 2023 placements are still going on and during 2022 placements total of 978 companies visited. Providing an average package of 9LPA with more than 4500 Super Dream offers (10LPA and above). Except for the students who go for PG studies every student who applied for placements gets placed every year. I plan to apply for placements too.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since I got an 18K rank on VITEEE-2021, I fell on the second round of counselling and got 1st slot fee structure in ECE(It depends upon the course) you won't get 1st slot fee if it gets filled and it goes on like that. I pay Rs.198000 as a tuition fee and Rs.39000 as a bus fee. I didn't apply for any scholarship or financial assistance program.
Campus Life
Here they conduct the annual cultural event Vibrance around March and the annual technical event TECHNOVIT around October. They are one of the most popular and significant events held in Chennai. More than 65000 books are available in the library(Air conditioned) with 3 floors and a huge place to study. Every classroom can easily fit 70 students with large spacing. Other than the above-mentioned events there would be many sporting events happening frequently and other college students to participate. There are over 200 clubs present in VIT Chennai, more than 20 student chapters, and more than 10 Technical Teams participate in International competitions around the globe.
Admission
The minimum eligibility to write the entrance exam is you should have scored 60% in(Physics, Chemistry, Maths) or (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, maths) in each. When the admission process starts, the application form and fees will be available on VIT official website. No there aren't any reservation benefits available for SC/ST students and scholarship is available for students who can't afford to pay with certain selection process. The admission process is very clean and smooth, everything is online so no worries about that.
