Course Curriculum Overview
According to my JEE Mains rank, I was not getting Computer Science and Engineering in the top 10 NITs. I was getting lower branches in top NITs like Civil /Mechanical/ Metallurgy. But I was passionate about Computer Science and decided JNU B.tech seeing its benefits in many ways. Faculty:- All the faculty members here are highly qualified. They have done their Ph.D. from top IITs and they are really very helpful. Students to teacher ratio is decent approx 15:1.Some professors who are more interactive in nature easily manage to keep an eye on all students. The current curriculum is up to the industry standards. However, it defeats some NITs regarding the curriculum. The semester exams are quite difficult here. I mean you can't think of cheating here. If you are caught, your paper will be cancelled. Exams in B.tech(SOE) program are always on time. Our Centre take semester exam even before NITs.
Internships Opportunities
In B.tech almost all students get internship opportunities till 3rd year in different companies depending on skills and get PPO in 4th year if they do well in their internship period. Many internship notifications are sent by Jnu departments to students like central government internships, private companies, and startups internships. Last year students majorly focus on the development of projects by applying whatever knowledge they get till 4th year and it helps students during ONN as well as OFF campus placement. Colleges also conduct Jobs fair for students to get a job, all famous companies come and hire students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition Fees in JNU for the B.tech program are the same as NIT's Fee structure. So there are Fees concessions in tuition fees on the basis of Family Income. Like 62,500-for Family Income above 5 lacs, 2/3 of 62,500 concessions are given to Family Income b/w 1-5 lacs Family Income.Full remission in Fee for Family Income below 1 lac. Other than the B.tech program JNU have very minimal Fee.
Campus Life
For women, it's a safe campus. Security is great, you can roam around at any time within campus without any apprehension one may feel while walking in Delhi streets after 10 pm. JNU library is the most famous. There are Hostel Nights/ Fresher Nights/ Some seminar or festival happening throughout the year, you just don't realize how time passes and kind of get accustomed to it, along with really pathetic mess food. Dhabas and Canteen culture is pretty unique to JNU, along with its intellectual talk sessions. Aerated drinks are banned on campus which kind of makes me sad. JNU has many student clubs which time to time organise a few activities around the year. Mountaineering Club, Taekwondo Club, Drama Club, Annual Sports Events, etc. From time to time many artists come to JNU to perform. After spending a year on campus, I'd say it's been a nice experience. You can take your time out to do things, being alone or with friends, it's a beautiful campus and eventually, you'd feel part of it.
Hostel Facilities
JNU hostels are the best place you can get, to stay in Delhi. You have to fill in Yes in the hostel during admission time. JNU hostel is available at a very Minimal cost in the heart of Delhi. You will not get anywhere in Delhi hostels at such an affordable rate and the facilities are decent. Health facilities and many extra activities are conducted by hostels in different fields. Living on the beautiful campus of JNU is the experience of a lifetime. Imagine waking up to see a peacock dancing below your balcony, sunlight filtering through the leaves of the trees around you. It's almost like a scene from the poems of romantic poets. However that is about campus, there are some hard realities too that might kill some of the beauty painted by me in the above paragraph. The rooms are not very spacious. Unless you are a PhD. scholar, you will have to share the room with one more student. Further, the food in most of the mess is not very tasty, specially Shipra and Koyna hostels. You will fill JNU when you will come here.
Admission
Admission to JNU for the B tech program is done on the basis of JEE Mains rank. So, You have to prepare well for the IIT JEE exam during High School time. In class 12th during the month of November and December, NTA releases notifications for JEE exam Registration so keep visiting the official website and fill out the form.
