Remarks

KIIT University might be relatively new but it has been growing in its reach at an exponential rate. The students here are highly competitive and one needs to put in a real effort to succeed here. The place is full of opportunities with workshops, competitions, fests, etc happening almost every week. A student can truly achieve his full potential if they utilize these opportunities and try to make the most out of it.

Entrance Preview

In order to qualify for admission at any of the branches of KIIT, you need to give the KIITEE (KIIT Entrance Exam). The test is conducted around mid April every year. It is computer based online test which is to be given through a workstation at the alloted test centre. The test duration is around 180 minutes and consist of MCQs. For further details regarding the test refer to: http://kiitee.kiit.ac.in/2017/Information_Brochure%20_2017.pdf

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum for all courses is a rigorous one with a lot of attention to a hands-on learning approach. Research is highly encouraged here by the faculty members. The training and placement department of KIIT gives special training to deal with real industry exposure and cracking interviews. For the afore mentioned, KIIT has enabled in its campus with IOT labs, robotics labs, etc. It continually works on education with the help of technology with projector aids, networking architectures and lab demos for all courses. Here apart from the main curriculum there For further details regarding the exact courses offered, please visit: http://archive.kiit.ac.in/courses/courses.html

Internships Opportunities

Almost every student gets a good internship. According to my branch, most of the students gets internships in core companies like NTPC, SAIL, GAIL etc which are good as per branch. Around 80% students secure an internship here. The stipends offered by companies visiting the campus are good where for instances Amazon gives Rs. 40000 per month. Endurance International group gives Rs. 50000 per month.

Placement Experience

5

The placement is very nice in my college from what I have seen. This year, only 20 to 30 may be are not placed but they are trying for off-campus placements. The average salary that I know of is 3.5 to 4 lakhs. Companies which visited are IBM, Accenture, Wipro, TCS and many other companies like Tata. The technical round for all branches is very tough. I heard from seniors that they all are asking generally basic questions from all fields. I really don't know about the stipend offered. Now I am in the 2nd year and I have completed my training in JUSCO(TATA). The internship will be done in summer 2018, may be 80% students got the internship this year.

College Events

5

Every month at least one fest is organized at KIIT such KIITFEST, KRITARTH, IMDF, CHIMERA, KOLLOSEUM to name a few. They are all organised on a gran scale and KIIT has successfully attracted imminent personalities varying from Sunidhi Chauhan to Sashi Tharoor. More than 1000 people participate in the events every year. All this activities are governed by the KIIT Student Activity Center(KSAC). Almost all phases of the fest are effectively managed from online promotions and marketing down to web/app development and event handling. People from schools and colleges from all over India take part in these fests.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Education is expensive at KIIT University and depending on the course it may vary per semester. Excluding accomodation fees the rough estimate of the fees would be: BBA:- INR 152500 BTech:- INR 402500 MTech:- INR 144500 For a more detailed fee structure refer to: http://www.kalingauniversity.edu.in/ProImg/Fee%20Structure.pdf

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides a tuition waiver to students who could make to the top 500 in the KIITEE. KIIT also provides scholarships to students who crack KIITEE after graduating from KISS (KALINGA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES). Although I did not avail any such scholarship

Campus Life

4.5

The college greatly encourages extracurricular activities for student. For that purpose it has even set up a KIIT Student Activity Center(KSAC). There are around 25 different societies at present which range from coding, robotics, automobile to fashion, TED, MUN societies. These societies are managed by the students and teachers and every society organizes regular events inside campus. There are many students who are now pursuing a career based on the extracurricular they undertook at KSAC. KIIT even has its very own cricket stadium and field and boasts of students who have competed both at the national and international level.

Hostel Facilities

4

There as many as 20 hostels all around KIIT campus. They are mainly divided into 3 categories: non-AC triple sharing (INR 10,000), AC triple sharing (INR 30,000) and AC double sharing(INR 40,000). KIIT also has PG accommodations available along with its own guest houses and separate dorms for students coming from abroad. Special care is taken to keep the hostel clean and any functional issue regarding any facility is solved within 24 hours. Every hostel has its own food committee consisting of students and teachers who decide upon the menu.

Alumni/Alumna

We have a platform for alumni meets through the KIIT Alumni Association. Regional meets at various cities around India are conducted regularly by Alumni at KIIT. The Alumni Association has been able to establish the Art of Giving society to help the underprivileged. Further they have been responsible for overseeing most of the technological set ups around the campus such REST endpoints, fingerprint systems, SAP backed etc. to name a few.

Exam Structure

There are two theory papers per semester. One is the mid term with a weight age of 40% and the other being the end term with a weight age of 60%. The exams all consist of lab practicals, vivas, quizzes, class tests. Mid term weight age also takes into account assignment submissions and project completions for the respective subjects. There are 5 to 6 theory papers per semester with 3 lab tests.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty members here are mostly doctorates and have achieved great laurels in their fields. The student to faculty ratio here is 12:1 which makes it easy for the students to perform one on one interaction with their respective faculties. The faculty even encourage students to build upon technology for the university itself as such many students have been able to create their own startups around KIIT campus from scratch.

Placement Experience:

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.
