Course Curriculum Overview
The faculty at SPJIMR is top-notch. The classes are discussion-based and not monologue. The academics are just rigorous enough. It's application based so rote learning takes a back seat here. One has to be attentive and participative in classes to do well in academics. Very few to none actually fail and have to repeat the first year. Although the grades are relative, one has to ensure that they are not at the bottom in every course to be able to pass year 1.
Internships Opportunities
I have not got my internship yet. But the opportunities are top notch and they pay well too. Stipend ranges from 100000 to 200000 per month. Projects depend on the company. For more details just download the report which is available in the public domain.
Placement Experience
We have our Internship placements after our Core Term is over, which is term 4. It happens around the time of July, which is almost a year after students have joined the campus. Final placements happen in early January.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees have to be paid for the whole year upfront. This will be informed at the start of the course and is fixed for the batch. The scholarship is available but not many qualify for it. Details can be checked on the website.
Campus Life
Sprint and OJAS are our flagship fests conducted in the month of January. The library is well equipped and they treat students well. Sports facilities are not the best inside the campus, but one can access N number of facilities nearby (as it's Andheri West). Social life depends on your personality and luck.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are excellent, equipped with Air conditioners. Microwave Oven and Refrigerators are available on each floor, common to the floor occupants.\ Food is vegetarian and costs 95 per meal. The total cost including everything is 110000 per year which is cheap considering Mumbai.
Admission
All the eligibility details are available on the official website of SPJIMR- https://www.spjimr.org/course/post-graduate-diploma-in-management-pgdm/admissions/. The admission process had a Written Ability Test which was followed by two rounds of Group Interviews. The first round of GI was technical and the second was a personality-based discussion. There is no reservation as such in SPJIMR.
Interview Experience
The panelists were alumni, 1 was from IM(male), the other was from OPs(Female), 3rd panelist I don't remember. Candidates were IM1, IM2, OP1(me), OP2 First, all of us introduced ourselves. Then the interview started with the IM panelist asking each IM1&IM2 about their work, interests, and what they want to do after their MBA. Also about the IM curriculum in SPJIMR. Then they moved to me, I was asked to describe what I did in port. What's a BOM? How does it help a port? How many ports does Adani have? Cargo handled and what's the current situation of APSEZ when compared to the port industry in India. Explain the operation of a port. How has the global container shortage affected the port business? What is FTL<L? What do you want to do after your MBA? (In detail, company, role, what exactly do people do in that role)
