MCM DAV the girls college

Dislikes

  • The hostel lights are not allowed to leave the college campus after 6 PM. They cannot even walk around in the college itself. They just have to stay inside the hostel after 6 PM.
  • The library gets closed around 4 PM which do not give the student opportunity to go and sit and study in the library

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course of BSc computer application because of my keen interest in maths physics as well as computers. I learned a lot during this course about the everyday use of data. This course is of three years and has six semesters which has different kinds of computer subjects like database management, Microsoft, Python, C++, etc. As MCM is a girl's College show the students are only females.

Placement Experience :

There is a placement committee chair amongst the professors of the college. A few students get placed through the college itself but it's really rare. There is no professional degree provided by the college due to which not many companies are interested to take students as interns or employees. For my course which is BSc computer application, There are several companies that still coming such as Infosys TCS and many other private companies from Chandigarh itself.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The cost of the study is great because the fees are only around 25,000 a year. There are some government-funded scholarships that are applied for students who have scored a great score in their 12th standard.

Campus Life :

The college is a girl's college and there are a variety of events that take place in the college around the year. A student body president and vice president are elected every year with some of the other coordinators. There is an election that takes place for the President and the Vice President in the college. There is a library which is having a lot of books for the students related to their curriculum as well as some novels that can be read by them during their free time. The classrooms are very spacious and have almost all the amenities that are required in a college. The sports and extracurricular activity within the campus are huge and mostly all the students participate in the extracurricular activities. There are some social groups, dance groups, nukkad groups et cetera. I believe that the college should have more clubs and committees which are handled by the students themselves because mostly the clubs and committees were handled by the professors.

Hostel Facilities :

I was staying in the hostel which cost around one lakh for one year. The hostel has 8AC on the top floors and the ground floor. There is no AC. People bring their coolers during the summertime and they do not have to pay extra electricity for them. There are multiple pages around the college in which mostly all the girls from the college day. The college consists of around 6000 to 7000 girls and all of them stay around the college itself. The menu is kind of a buffet system and there are multiple food items included in it. The warden decides the menu and if any complaint is registered about the food item, it is changed as soon as possible.

Admission :

For being eligible for the degree of BSc. computer application, a student must score above 70% in their 12th examination. The college follows the admission process under Punjab University. A student must fill in the form around May on the Panjab University Main website. A student is then eligible for all the colleges that are under Panjab University and MCM is one of those colleges. There is no written test or interview but 12th board marks are the only eligibility criteria. According to me, the college should have a personal admission process for every course rather than a single admission process

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course was not far above as expected it was from old education policy I literally hate zoology not interest in practical zoology because it was like just seeing slides but chemistry and industrial microbiology lab and syllabus were cool. Zoology subjects implemented should be changed for future development skills like apiculture farming etc which can be better for the future

The practical knowledge is more than that of theoretical knowledge . Only one negative point is that the curriculum contain a huge bundles of practical files which is very difficult to complete

Placement Experience:

In the last semester, Students get eligible for the placements. The placements here are good no doubt, but the thing is there is high competition. If one company comes for the placement it only gives chance to the deserving candidates and out of hundreds students, 4 or 5 students got selected.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is designed by Punjab university. Syllabus is completely relevant with the course. It includes both theory and practical syllabus. Syllabus is up to the mark but the student should decide before hand because it's chemistry, zoology and botany, it's not easy at all. Exams occur at the end of every semester. Chemistry has 3 parts and 3 exams for 22 marks each. Zoology and botany both have 2 divisions and exam is set for 36 marks of each subject. All exams are scheduled for 3 hours.
