Course Curriculum Overview
I have choosen this course because I like chemistry and I wanted to explore in this field. The faculty-student ratio in nit Rourkela is 1:12. Most of the faculties have done PhD in their respective subjects and the teaching method is fair, but it depends on the student. The semester exams were conducted in very short intervals because our classes started very late due to lockdown and the delay in the exams. And it's pretty hard to pass exams in this college. Exams and evaluation is done very strictly, and this is why it is one of the top institute in the country.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides nearly 50 internships every year. The average stipend was Rs. 30 thousand. And companies like Barclays, Oracle, Microsoft, Tata Steel, and SAP labs provide these internships. There are many more opportunities which are yet to explore.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements in 4th year and for internship programs during 3rd year. There are many companies which visit our campus for campus placements and some of them are Byjus, Microsoft, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Google, Apple, Cognizant, etc. 200+ companies come and give job offers to over 1200 students on average. The highest package goes up to 45 to 50 lakhs or more and the average package is 15-19 lakhs. 95% of students get placed. Many students in my course go for higher studies but I'm planning to go for placements at Byjus or unacademy because I don't want to go for a PhD. But my plans can change later.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is fair. 44000 per semester for my course and it includes hostel fees too. Education loan is also available here. You can apply at the NIT SBI branch. You can also try to get scholarships.
Campus Life
Many fests like Nitrutsav (cultural fest), hackathon, and cosmological fest are organised every year in the months of December to march. A variety of books are available in the library. There is no lack of anything in the classrooms. Sports and extra curricular activities are majorly conducted in clubs. And there are many websites which are ran by students themselves.
Hostel Facilities
I live in the hostel which is on the college campus. It is a new hostel and it is good as compared to the older girls' hostel in the college. There is only one disadvantage the hostel is far away from the main building, so we must have a bicycle on this college campus because the campus has a large area.
Admission
The candidate must qualify JEE Mains exam and must secure at least 75% in class 12th with PCM or PCMB. The admissions are done through JOSSA or CSAB and the fees at the time of admission were Rs.75000. Application dates can be found on the NTA or JOSSA website. I got an OBC-NCL reservation. The admission process was completely okay.
