Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

This college is under Burdwan University so it follows Burdwan University's CBCS exam pattern. This course is a very challenging course. It teaches a student how to manage their time because the syllabus is huge but time is only 5-6 months so I took this course. The faculty-student ratio is too good in our year there are 14 students and there is a total of 8 faculties and their behaviour is very friendly. Most of the faculties hold PhD degrees. Their teaching method is very calming and helpful. Exams are often delayed because of University's negligence but exams are at a moderate level.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is the key factor in this college as this is a state-owned college semester fees are nominal. For B.Sc. Honours tuition fees are 110 rupees per month lab fees(for physics) are 70 rupees per semester. Are there some miscellaneous charges overall of almost 1250 rupees per semester? You can get a lot of government and non-government scholarships. Government scholarships like SVMCM, OASIS, and INSPIRE. There is no campusing done in our college.

Campus Life

3

Normally in the month of August, a college fest is held in our college. Our college has both a department and a seminar library and there is no extra fees or late fine in our college. B.Sc. Honours students are given 4 books from the seminar library and 2 books from the department library. There are sufficient classrooms and cleanliness is also taken care of. Usually in the winter season, our college holds sports activities. There is a student union in our college other than that there is a gym also.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are 2 hostels in our college one for Hindu boys and one for Muslim boys. No girls' hostel is present in our college. In the hostel, one room accommodated four students. There is a playground and a library in our hostel. Meal quality is average. For registration, three thousand rupees of one-time payment is taken and no other accommodation fees are ever taken. For mess, two thousand rupees is taken per month. Besides the college, there are PGs for ladies.

Admission

You should have passion for the subject. The admission process was quite simple it was totally online process. Application fees were 50 rupees only as it is a state government-run college. You should have physics and mathematics in your class 12 level and you have to pass both of them. The application forms can be found on the college's own website. Application form released after West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education declares class 12 results. Reservation can be availed and it gives a lot of benefits. Very few people seek reservation in this college because it is not that much competition here. So seeking reservations will help a lot to get admission.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was well-structured, and each semester, there were projects and presentations that also helped to test our knowledge. I got influenced as the curriculum provides us with financial economics, political economics, and Applied mathematics. The level of the exams was decent, related to the course. They could improve in teaching more practical knowledge and projects related to that, instead of only learning in a theoretical way.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.
