Hooghly Mohsin College - Geology Department

I opted for the Geology subject because it was a new subject for me and I was very fascinated to learn the subject and gain knowledge more about our earth. The faculty is very good. HOD sir and the other teachers are very friendly and teach us in a very student-friendly way. If anyone practices every day what he/she has learned then the term exams are not that difficult, you can easily score 9+ cgpa.

The fee is very nominal as it's a govt college and you'll get to apply for almost every scholarship from the college like swami vivekananda scholarship, inspire scholarship, oasis scholarship, Kanya Shree scholarship etc. You may also avail of the student Credit Card facility with the help of the college.

There is a Central Library in the college. After admission with a library card, you can avail almost every book you need and now there is an online library system also, you may read journals, and PDFs or listen to audiobooks. Every year there is a college fest held around May/June. Students may participate in various sports in inter-college tournaments.

There are two Hostel - Kanailal Dutta Hostel and Jakaria Hostel.There is a one time registration fee of Rs.3000 and after that every year a nominal fee of Rs. 230 for renewal. Food is provided (lunch & dinner) at a very low price of Rs 2000 every month

You've to pass the 12th Examination with a science background and the marks you've got in the 10th Examination in Geography are also needed for preparing the merit list. Every year after the announcement of the State Board result college issues a notice for new admission and you can find it on the college website. It's a govt college so the fees structure for each and every course is very low. The admission process is also very smooth and anyone can avail of the reservation benefits if he/she is eligible.
