Remarks

Infrastructure should have been better. Except for the experienced faculties, the other faculties in the department should have more quality.

Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE in which i got 63461 rank in India. I chose this college because its one of the top 4 colleges in kolkata, also being in metropolitan , it provided me better opportunity for training and internship.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

the course curriculum is based on the AICTE and West Bengal University pattern. It focused and covered the theoretical aspects well but I feel practicals need be revamped for better understanding and practical knowledge. In theory our semesters were designed with proper subjects that were related in some manner. Also we had the option to select subjects from an optional list in after 3rd semesters.

Internships Opportunities

Our college provided internship in our times with one of the It workshop in kolkata and also granted NOC for those going to DVC or WBSEB. There was no stipend for internship, return we had to pay for our internship program in 6th semesters if we went the one provided by college.

Placement Experience

4

The good thing about this college is the placements. The time I was in college, many MNC's such as Cognizant, Wipro, CapGemini, TCS etc used to come and almost 90% of the eligible candidates used to get placed in at least one of the companies. I got placed in 3 of these mentioned companies. The pre placement preparations provided by the college was also very helpful in getting through.

College Events

4

since the college is in kolkata so it automatically inherits the rich culture and celebrations from Bengali tradition. It has 3 different cultural, dance and activities group monitored closely by principal himself. The yearly events are the tech fest phoenix and cultural fest . One if the most enjoyable time literally we had a blast.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Again fee structure at my time 2011 to 2015 batch was according to the then WBUT. For 1st year it was 35500 per sem, for 2nd year 36500, for 3rd year 37500 and for 4th year 38500 per sem for general category. we also had waivers for category and income based waivers.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes college provide scholarship based on the TWF (Tution Fee waiver) rule under WBUT and also for category based candidate. Educational loan is also available with tie up with almost all the banks.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life is only in the college hours. But its good. Gender ratio as usual, pretty much even in CSE and ECE but almost no females in ME and very few in EE. I'ld say ration for boys:girls will be around 5:1. Extracurricular , robotics, tournaments all used to be conducted by the respective clubs on regular basis.

Hostel Facilities

1

there's no hostel facility available with the college. You have to stay in the pgs that are readily available in the locality. The royal pg, A1 pg, Comfort are some of the good pgs with good living conditions on sharing basis and very reasonable food and price.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of our dept. specially, due to our Beloved HOD Mr. Tapas Roy sir, is very good. Our seniors and FIEM alumni are always there in the college group and in whatsapp group sharing information and lending their advice.

Exam Structure

the exam structure that college followed is maintained by WBUT now Maulana Abul kalam Azad University Of Tech. It has the semesters divided into 2 mid semesters and minimum of 9 labs per subject allotted. then we also had mid semester for labs too. The exams were conducted mostly fair for us and there no no grace allotted in case of attendance shortage

Admission

To get admission in this institute, one has to either clear WBJEE or AIEEE exam back in the days when I took admission. In 2011, it was a manual procedure, where candidate had to be present at the counselling, conducted in Yuva Bharti kridangan, Salt Lake. You have to monitor the live boards and rank wise calls in a certain block, say 10000-12000 rank were called at a time and then you could select from the open seats available in the affiliated colleges.

Faculty

3

It has many good faculties but they are limited in every branch. So not all of the classes or dept. get access to them. They take limited classes and the subjects that they taught are still with me. But the backup faculties or rest others need to increase their skills and teach at the level of the top faculties.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months
