One of the best colleges for MBA, should you be willing to learn!

I enrolled for the Master in Business Administration Course which was great. The faculty here is a good mixture of enthusiasm and experience. While some professors are academics oriented, a lot many prepare you for the corporate life that lies ahead of you. And if you are someone who wants to pursue entrepreneurship, do not worry. Many of our professors have prior entrepreneurship experience as well and would be more than happy to guide you.

While you can find the latest fee structure on the IIM Sirmaur website, My fee was 13,75,000 for the entire course and it includes Hostel Accommodation. Apart from that, you have to separately pay a nominal fee (Approx. 6,000/month) for Mess services which are mandatory since this is a residential program. Students from SC, ST, or OBC backgrounds are eligible for scholarships under central government schemes, but the same does not apply to General students. However, one can avail of loans from many government banks at a very competitive interest rate without any collateral or guarantee, on the day of registration itself.

Our annual management and cultural fest happen in the month of February-March and are organized by the cultural committee. The infrastructure is decent as we are on a temporary campus only. However, we are excepted to move to a permanent campus pretty soon and the new campus is expected to have amazing infrastructure. Students will find a library open 24x7 throughout the year with an ample amount of books and journals. Our college also boasts of Bloomberg Terminal. Apart from that, we have an open concrete badminton court, grass volleyball court, and cricket/football ground. We have a sports committee which manages all equipment and also conducts various competitions. For indoor fun, we have a pool, snooker, and football along with a gym at both the hostel and campus. Our Student Body consists of over 20 committees, clubs, and cells covering every aspect of your MBA life, and for those who still feel the need to have a separate club or cell, we have a process for that too.

The hostel is good although a bit far from the institute's campus. However, we have buses to ferry us between the hostel and campus at regular intervals. The hostel has all basic amenities except for cooler/AC though the same will be provided on the permanent campus. Coming to the menu, students are served food 4 times a day. The menu is vast and is reviewed by the mess committee frequently to accommodate seasonal dishes. We are also served special dinners on special occasions. The quality is okayish but the taste is very good.

I applied for admission at IIM Sirmaur through Common Admission Test (CAT Exam) in July 2021. I gave the exam on the last Sunday of November (that's usually when it happens). I got an overall percentile of 98.03. After that, I applied for all IIMs I was eligible for on their website (usually Mid-Jan-Jan End) and also for Common Admission Process (1 process for 9 colleges). I had an interview for the same but no GD as we were still under COVID-19 effect. My merit list came around May last - this could be different for each college.

I did not have any GD rounds but a personal interview. The faculty was nice and framed it like it was a normal conversation, not some interrogation. It went smoothly although you might have to wait for some time for the interview. This tends to make applicants anxious but those who can keep calm, do exceedingly well in interviews.
