Remarks

Still growing institution, so the management is also likely to sometimes make mistakes. So be prepared for that. Other than that one must really appreciate what this institution has achieved in the last 7 years only. It has developed a reputation for itself in such a short time period which is truly commendable.

Entrance Preview

I gave the SET i.e. Symbiosis Entrance Test for Law. I don't remember my score at all, but hey, what matters is I made it. And I wanted a good college with ample placement opportunity. Since SLS, Pune is already a big name in the country, it's sister college closer to home was a definite yes for me.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Curriculum is holistic. Each semester attempts to cover all aspects of law suitable for learners at that stage. Fourth and fifth year is when you start feeling professional. You are given an option to choose from a wide range of elective subjects like IPR, Competition law, entertainment law, investment law, Mergers and acquisition, Banking and Finance, Energy Law etc. This is way, the students have an edge over others as they have specialized in different courses according to their courses. It helps them to streamline and sharpen their knowledge.

Internships Opportunities

Internships are the best part about SLS, Noida. We are required to intern since semester 1. It is mandatory to intern in both summer and winter breaks for a minimum of 4 weeks after which we are assessed, so there's less scope for bluffing. Towards 4th and 5th year, students start doing regular internships and most receive stipend also. The most I've received is INR 15k.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are good. Considering it has only been 7 years since the college started, it has carved a good name for itself. Tier 1 firms that have recruited from our college include AZB, Trilegal, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Trilegal etc. Apart from these they are also various other Tier 2 law firms as well as companies for recruitment as in house counsel.

College Events

4

The best part about my college life has been the National College Fest named Symfiesta. It is a 3 day affair comprising of various cultural, legal and other fun events. Students from various colleges all over the country come and participate. In the evenings every night there is a Rock concert, DJ night and a pro night. There are other colloquims, conferences, MUNs etc that keep happening from time to time.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is reasonable. It is not change every year i.e. you will be paying the same annual amount for all 5 years along with security deposit which will be refundable at the end of 5 years. My annual fee is INR 1,60,000/- However I think that now the present batch pays INR 2,00,000/-. Compare to government colleges, the fee may seem a little steep, but private colleges usually charge somewhere around this only.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

I have no knowledge about any scholarship facilities. Please contact the institution if they extend any assistance towards financially weak candidates.

Campus Life

4.5

One must really enjoy college life because it's really the one chance that you have to discover yourself and to become who you will eventually become. Having said that it is equally important to be diligent in hard working with your studies as much is it is important to have fun, to meet new people, and to party. Symbiosis gives you all experiences. I have had the chance to meet people from different parts of the country and to learn about the culture and religion that previously I was unaware of. Studying in diverse environment helps in the growth of your personality as you are no longer bound by social stigmas or stereotypes. You learn to appreciate the beauty of all cultures. Symbiosis has a good mix of crowd from almost all states in the country. The gender ratio is also surprisingly almost equal which is a healthy sign of educational development in the country and particularly the inclination of girls towards the field of law. The good news about this college is that they have a very strict anti ragging policy so funny not worry about getting into any kind of any unnecessary trouble. Overall a healthy uplifting environment embodying good scope for the future

Hostel Facilities

4

There is only a girls hostel in the campus as of now. The rooms are spacious and well maintained and are only available on a triple sharing basis. There are no air conditioners however you are permitted to purchase and install your own cooler. The mess food is decent and can be eaten on a daily basis. Once the week non veg is also served and special requirements during fast days are also full effect upon request.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors have always been very helpful with regard to giving away there notes for particularly tricky subjects. I have also met alumini at a couple of my internships and they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. I have received guidance and good wishes from all those have crossed paths with.

Exam Structure

The best part about the exam structure is that as far as the internal exams are concerned it is application based. This is very useful because as lawyers you must know how to apply the law. Rote learning the statute would not be of any use unless the lawyer knows where to use it. The external exams on the other hand are theory based which is helpful to the students because it's a big paper and one does not have enough time to brainstorm. This is when what is taught in class is tested. Since the past 2 years the internal exams have turned open book which is a very forward thinking practice since the focus of the institution is not on Rote learning but application. The assessment is divided as two sets of internal exams comprising 10 marks each + 20 marks project + 60 marks external for each subject.

Admission

The first step is the entrance exam i.e. the SET. Once your score above the cut off, come the next level. You are then called for a GD&PI i.e. group discussion and personal interview. The candidates who clear the assessment through all three levels get selected. You get a confirmation through e-mail with the fee structure etc. Once youve filled the admission form, you're a student of SLS, Noida.

Faculty

3.5

Like any other college, some faculty is extremely talented and some, not so much. But overall, a good bunch. Having said that, one professor may suit some and may not suit others. All professors are well-qualified and competent teachers. We have a transparent system of both student-teacher assessment. Every year, we are required to fill in an anonymous feedback about all teachers.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Law has always intrigued me. Added to that, I have a knack for business too. So choosing the course was not really difficult. The college curriculum is very well spread over the 10 semesters and the balance between the law subjects and the business subjects is balanced. there are all, 5 divisions in which the students are divided and each class has about 40-45 students so the interpersonal interaction between the faculty and students is regular. The faculty is really helpful and well-versed in the subjects they are teaching. Their methods of evaluation and education help develop the understanding of the law and business side-by-side. Examinations or evaluations happen on a regular basis in form of quizzes and tutorials and end-term examinations. The examinations covered all the important portions of the curriculum and really tested their understanding of the law of the students by giving us case studies and open-ended questions.

The placement cell is not very active. This year only 2 students got placed in TATA AIG. In last year students are eligible for campus placement. In future, this no may rise. Last year 6-7 of my senior batch students got placed. Packages offered are avg. It is around 5-6 lac per annum. Students have to work hard to get better placement. The majority of people go for judiciary and litigation. After getting my degree I gonna appear for civil services. Many students do go for civil services here.
