Unforgettable life at my college days PEC

It is a wonder full college for engineering course and the education system was very good. It is fully carrier oriented education institute. Student studied in the college will be good professionals in future. While talk about the management of the college – they are conducting more events, culture programs which will help students to good professionals in future.

I took JET (Joint Entrance Test) held at 2004 and scored 98.00 out of 200. Through CENTAC, I got the seat in B.Tech civil engineering which I wished to join in government college PEC. Since that time this course was not available in any other private and government colleges in Pondicherry. I opted this course in PEC because PEC is such a good college very famous for campus interview and the education system was very good.

The Course was mainly focused on the Technologies and particles which employed in the Civil Engineering field. I took electives as Advance Steel Design, Pre-stress concrete, Energy and Environment Management, Ground-water Hydrologist, Hydrologist and water resource Engineering. Failure Maintenance & Analysis of Repair works. We are free to choose our own elective which should contain 10 students.

In our batch 2008 - they have not provided any internship. We have not gone any internship. But in my own interest, I went to one of the construction site "Venkateswara Medical College located at Arriyur, Pondicherry. There I learned how the practical things.

In my batch (2008 – B.Tech – Civil Engineering) the placement was very excellent. Out of 62 students, 58 students got placed in campus interview. Most of the students got placed in TCS, L&T, Maytas Infra, Wipro, Patni Computes, they have offered the CTS as between 1.8 to 3.8 Lakhs per annum.

Every year we celebrate cultural event “PECOFES” – 3 days event, College day – 1-day event, Sports Day, women’s day – 1-day event, Departmental Technical events “Edifice – 2-day event” every 3 years once and environment day. We participate in so many events and enjoyed the external.

In the 1st year we have paid around 20,000/- for two semester (1st semester and 2nd semester) including caution deposit which will be payable after completion of our UG course. In the 2nd, 3rd and final year we have paid around 18,000/- per year including tuition fee, special fee, but excluding exam fee and transportation fee.

Yes, I got the Scholarship for Adi Dravidar Welfare Department - Puducherry – The entire fee which I paid was refund by the Government of Puducherry – Adi Dravidar Welfare Department - Puducherry.

Our Pondicherry Engineering College Campus is very big Campus, inside we have 8 Engineering departments, once central library facility, two canteens pay and take basics, central Administration building with Examination hall, excellent lab facility’s in each department, we have R & D in civil Engineering department – where we can test the construction material and give test results, very big auditorium, Playground, volleyball court, Multi Gym facilities, Open Air Theatre. Almost we are in equal Gender ratio in overall campus. Equalities between the Genders was maintained all over the college campus. There is always a mixed group in all the workshops, cultural societies, events. While talking about extracurricular activities, we have sports, other technical symposium, and cultural events – we use to participate without any gender difference.

Since I am not a hostel student, I am not much more about hostels. But few time I went to hostel, the hostel facility was quite good and good environment for study and volley ball ground is there to play. For 1st year student 4 bed on sharing basics and for 2 year student 3 per room and 3rd year student 2 Per room and final year student single room. Hostel food is little ok but hostel student don’t like the hostel food.

Yes we have an alumni network and senior students, when we are in our college days our super senior came and conduct so many events, queues, training about campus placement. Now we are in in the alumni list share our work experience to our present collage students.

Our college has very good infrastructure to conduct the examination, mostly the exam was easy only, we got very good academic marks. But into the Practical exam - the exams are very tough to handle the external and internal examiner also. Most of the time we struggle to face the viva voice - we have raged time in the viva voice.

After completing my Higher Secondary Exam - I got the application in the Administrative building of PEC I think in the month of April and the same was submitted to CENTAC which is located in back side of Chemical Engineering Department. And given entrance examination in the month of May last week. After getting the result of HSC we submitted the mark list of HSC to CENTAC and after few days I got interview letter to attend the 1st counseling to the engineering-based course after that I attend the 1st counseling took B.tech Civil Engineering course.

All the faculty in our college are Ph.D. holders. They all are very good experience in the teaching the professional. They will use always practical examples while teaching and teach with new technology. They have brought to industrial visit to understand the practicalities.
