Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BA HONS in Mathematics because I loved mathematics and wanted to learn humanities subjects as well. The student-to-faculty ratio is 1:15. The faculties are highly qualified and teach with a practical approach. Most of the professors in my mathematics department are from IIT. The exams were held twice in the semester first mid-term and then semester and they are very timely. It was moderate to pass the exam but perseverance was required to snatch good grades.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is very good. BHU is made for middle-class families. The odd semester fee is approx 1600 rs and the even semester fee is approx 450 rs. The cost to Study is also cheap as Varanasi is a developing city. 5000 rs. Would be a good budget for a month at BHU. Scholarships are also provided by both the State government and central governments.
Campus Life
The annual fest is Spandan which is held every year in February. The fest includes many events like quizzes, dances, singing etc. The library is also very rich in books and the cyber library is also available here at BHU. The amenities in the classroom are very good as well as the whole campus is fully Wifi. The University sports board conducts various inter and intra-faculty competitions like basketball, cricket etc. Various national competitions are also held. There are multiple clubs in each faculty. For example, I have joined the Prometheus quiz club of the social science faculty.
Hostel Facilities
I have been allotted the Lal Bahadur Shastri hostel. The rooms are very spacious and two students live in one room. The rooms are fully tiled and equipped with an almirah, drawers and tables. Wifi is also there in hostels. The mess is good only and the menu is pre-planned for the whole week. The quality is good and survivable. Registration for hostels is asked in the counselling process itself and only 20-25 Percent get a hostel. There are three localities where PG and rent rooms are available. They are chittupur, seer gate, and Hyderabad gate. They are very affordable.
Admission
During my time, the admission was purely held by BHU, not by NTA. We filled form on bhuonline.in and then the exam was held. After that results were announced and I passed with flying colours. After that, the counselling process started. A call letter was sent to us by the website and given the option of online and offline counselling. I chose offline and after submitting all the requisite documents my admission was done. The counselling process was lengthy and it was the only thing that needed to be improved.
