Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course because I was interested in Electrical Engineering . As it is a new IIT, there are about 15 faculties in our department which are still less compared to older IITs.All the faculties have PhDs from reputed institutes around the world. The teaching method followed is traditional, however, some faculties have an unconventional way of taking examinations. The academics are of course tough and there are tests after almost every three weeks.

Placement Experience

The students become eligible after the 7th Semester for the placement. The major companies include Microsoft, TI, Google, Uber, and Nvidia. The highest package was 70 LPA and the average is 20 LPA . Around 94 percentage of the students got placed in the recent batch.

Fees and Financial Aid

I guess the quality of education we are getting for this fee is very good compared to other private institutes that cost a lot. I didn't get any Scholarship or Financial Assistance. Regarding the stipend, I don't have any knowledge about it.

Campus Life

Annual Fest: Zeitgeist (occurring this year in March) Tech Fest: Advitya (occurs in March) The library has a lot of reference books for the students and the institute also has access to journals from different universities and organisations across the world. The classroom is equipped with Air Conditioning and projectors. There is a sports complex that has grounds for Football, Cricket, Hockey, Basketball, and Volleyball. There are also cultural and tech clubs and they have a room allocated for their equipment. One of the most active of colleges is FInCom which is related to Finance and Product Management

Hostel Facilities

All the basics of water, geyser, and almirah are provided. The mess food is average and there is a special meal for festivals. For registration, we have to consult the caretaker of the hostel and hostel fees are Rs.5500 for one semester.

Hostel Fee: INR 5000 per year

Admission

The admission is via the JEE Advanced examination. The seat counselling will be done via JOSAA. There exist fees for freezing the seat and after the counselling, the college will send documents to you via your email registered with JOSAA. The cutoff for Computer Science is around AIR-1000. The candidates from SC/ST Reservations and with Income Certificates avail zero tuition fees.

placements at my college are very very good, as everybody gets the chance to sit for the placements at the same level. we get the placement oportunities at the 6th semster also. in my brancg it is very good

A Vibrant Campus with good learning and great opportunities

helpful and large opportunities in campus

class size can be large , it helps every child to interact
academic work is quite high , the schedule may feel hectic especially during examination

The curriculum is relevant and covers core cse subjects like programing DSA and DBMS . it provides good fundamental for placements and further studies , more practical projects and industry based teaching would improve it .

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The best out of best about iit ropar

I applied to iit gandhinagar electrical engineering and got rejected as my jee advanced rank was not as par as required to take the course.the admission process of our college is based on an examination called jee advanced and if u get a good rank and pass that examination u can enter our college.i also applied for iit hyd,iit jodhpur etc in which I have got an admission in another branch as I said earlier as I like the electrical engineering branch I joined iit ropar .or college might be worst in sports in comparison to other iits but they are always better than other iits in reasearch orientation side...Read More
