Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course because civil engineering in IITD is the best in India in terms of QS world ranks. Also I had interest in getting into government sector jobs for which civil gives the best opportunities. Faculty student ratio is nearly 1 faculty per 8 student for civil engineering in IIT delhi. Nearly all professors are phd. Holders from eminent institutions around the world. Each semester one mid term and one end sem exam is conducted.

Class Size: 1200Course Fees: INR 200000 per year

Placement Experience

From the 7th semester students generally sit for placements. Companies like Deloitte google microsoft amazon sprinker and many HFTs come and offer great packages. As far as civil core is concerned not many companies come to offer placements as most students who sit for placements sit for tech jobs. Nearly all of the sitting students in placements get placed. I also plan to do a tech job and go for non core jobs.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees is nearly same in IITs which is around 12,00,000 and is mostly affordable...if not there are many many scholarships which are provided to atudents of IITs....as a result of which most of the merit students hold atleast one scholarship. Jobs are very good...as many many companies come to hire and do provide great packages.

Campus Life

IITD offers a great social aspect in life in terms of hostel culture , sports facilities, hostel mess and great infrastructure with state of the art technology. The central library has a variety of books on almost all genres. Classrooms and lecture halls are well furnished and provide a good vibe to study. There are several cultural and technical societies like debate club dance club music club coding club aeromodelling club etc. The annual tech fest of IITD is. Tryst and the annual cultural fest of IITD is Rendezvous.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel rooms are quite small and old but the maintenance is nearly satisfactory. The mess food at IITD is genuinely great and could be among the best hostel mess in all IITs. Hostel fees is quite high compared to the tuition fee it is nearly half of it.

Hostel Fee: INR 50000 per year

Admission

Admission process is quite difficult compared to other entrance exams. First qualification in JEE mains makes one eligible to write JEE advanced and to get into civil engineering in IIT delhi one needs to get a minimum of 4300 rank as per 2022 stats. Application form for IITJEE is released every year by NTA on its official website around November - December with application fee of about 500 Rs.

From Classrooms to Campus ; my dtu journey

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course curriculum at DTU is quite relevant and comprehensive. The reason I chose this course was the mix of strong fundamentals in the first year—like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Programming—followed by department-specific core and elective courses that allow some flexibility and specialization. The curriculum gives a solid foundation for both real-world applications and further studies, especially through hands-on projects and lab work. That said, some areas could be improved, like including more industry exposure, internships, and practical case studies to bridge theory and real-world problems. Exams happen twice a semester (mid-terms and end-terms) and include assignments and projects as part of evaluation. While most exams are manageable if you keep up with the coursework, a few subjects can be challenging, and preparation is key to avoid surprises.

NIT Delhi: A Balanced Blend of Academics, Opportunities, and Campus Life

Placement Experience:

The annual placements at NIT Delhi are consistently getting better year by year where the top branches such as CSE, ECE, and IT are leading the way with their strong placement rates. Many students get hired at very attractive salaries by well-established companies like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, and Amazon. For example, the CTC of the best offers have reached as high as ?15–20 LPA in some instances. The Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches also contribute to the university’s overall placement record to some extent. Those students usually boost the available opportunities for themselves by taking up internships and off-campus offers. Moreover, the students who fail to get a job on the campus can still benefit out of the college atmosphere where the strong basics of coding, projects, and practical skills are taught which makes the students quite employable at startups, off-campus, or even when going for higher studies like M.Tech/GATE/abroad. To sum up, NIT Delhi is a very solid foundation for the students whether they want to have a career or continue with their education.

Great Placements but Campus needs improvements

Placement Experience:

After 3rd year students become eligible for campus placements. Almost 90% students gets placed. The top companies are Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Google and Adobe. The highest package is 53 lacks and the average package is 20 lacs. I plan to become a software engineer after i complete my course or study further.

A decent college

Placement Experience:

Placements are good. Students get hired, obviously, and they get a decent package. Highest package from our college is 52 LPA. Average package is 7-8 LPA. Highest package off campus is 1.2 Cr. Per annum.
