Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure in the first 2 terms is very well defined and there are certain core subjects that you study. Starting with 3rd Semester, you get to choose two electives of your choice. In the second year, all the courses are electives that you can choose as per your preference.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered in various domains. The projects are typically deliverables that can be done in 6-8 weeks which is the duration of the internship. All the top companies from every sector visited the campus for the recruitment process.
Placement Experience
The placement process was very smooth. During the 2 terms, we had our summer internship placement where companies from various domains like consulting, finance, sales & marketing, operation, and product management visited.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are paid every term. A 2-year course is divided into 6 terms. The fees, however, cover everything including books, hostel, and mess. However, the other cost of living is very moderate in Bangalore. I took a bank loan to pay the fees.
Campus Life
The campus life is pretty nice. IIM B has a host of clubs and societies which conduct exciting events from time to time. There are 3 major fests in the college, one on entrepreneurship, one on business, and one on cultural events. The sports infra in IIM B is also very nice.
Hostel Facilities
There are 3 types of hostels in IIM B based on their construction date. The hostels are well-designed and have ample green spaces and open areas. The new hostel blocks also have discussion rooms to have group meetings etc.
Admission
Applied through the CAT exam. Post the declaration of the result, I got WAT/PI calls from IIM Bangalore and Lucknow. IIM Bangalore also required SOP and LOR. I had a short 15 min interview with faculty and alumni. Post the interview I was offered admission.
Interview Experience
The process for IIM B included submitting an SOP and a LOR before the actual interviews. During the interview process, I had a short 15 min interview with 2 faculty members and one alumnus. The questions majorly revolved around why I wanted to do an MBA.
