What Students Say
Likes
- The vast campus with age old Heritage.
- The professors and their valuable guidance ( only if you really want to learn from them)
- The gardens within and around the faculties that provide amazing place to study even better than the classrooms.
Dislikes
- The politics of the campus. All the three years of my course only one thing was consistent-- the striking students for one point or the other
- Classes of most of the research scholars. They come and reach something that I personally never liked
Course Curriculum Overview
Currently there are only three professors in the geography department but the recruitment for assistant professors is under process and is supposed to be completed by the mid of the session 2023-24. The classes are mostly taken by research scholars due to a lack of teaching staff but this problem will be solved soon. If you are aiming for UPSC or state pcs you can consider this university. You will get the required environment and wonderful guidance from professors. The classrooms are very big with a capacity of almost 80-100 students. Some classrooms have been renovated recently under private sponsorships. So the infrastructure is almost okay. The classes are held regularly. There are separate sections for Hindi and English medium but the teachings are bilingual providing ease for students to attend classes at their convenience. The exams are held annually in the month of Feb-March.
Internships Opportunities
There is not much to say about internships and placements. I have attended just one of them. The Tata youth employment program and I think that's the only company offering internships. There are placements also but so few that they are negligible in such a vast University.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of the course vary as per your subject combination ranging between 3.5k-4k annually. The fee has been increased from this session. Earlier this course cost less than 1k only. But still, the increased fee is also affordable.
Campus Life
The annual fest was conducted by the departments themselves in the pre-COVID times. But now the students organize the farewell and freshers program on their own unofficially. The library is quite vast with ample books, magazines, and newspapers. You can join any cultural club, University theatre, or participate in sports. There are inter University competitions held annually. The campus is immensely large with many many gardens.
