Course Curriculum Overview :
I opted for this course as I'm interested in trading and analysis. The curriculum covers all aspects and basics of the subject. Further, advanced studies are also provided in this field. All of the financial markets are discussed in detail. Students are updated about what is currently happening in the financial world. Other factors like technical and fundamental analysis, risks involved, risk management, etc are also taught by experienced professors. The teachers are polite and friendly, they take an effort to students to make them understand on an individual level. All of them have a master's degree and some are pursuing a Ph.D. Professionals in the field are invited to college a few times to educate students on markets and current events. There are 6 semesters in this 3year degree. Each semester has 6 subjects. There are assignments and presentations that students need to submit every semester. The average CGPA or grade of all 6 semesters is considered on the degree certificate.
Internships Opportunities :
While in 5th sem we were offered a 3-month internship from Policy Bazar. Tho it was delayed from the company's side I'd say it was a good experience as we got to learn a lot about the products available in the market as we're from finance department.
Placement Experience :
At the end of the 5th semester or the start of the 6th semester, placements begin. Many big companies like Deloitte, Asian Paints, Policy Bazar, TJSB bank and other banks, etc come to recruit students from the finance department. Students from BBI, BFM, BAF and other finance-related courses appear in interviews for the same job positions. There are few positions available in particular companies so only a handful of students get the job and if 100-200 students apply about 20-25 of them get recruited. The process involves applying by filling out the provided form by the company for the desired role, there are aptitude tests conducted and a handful of students pass the test and are called further for the final interview. The average yearly package offered is 4L. It differs from company to company and the position you apply for. The eligibility criteria are also mentioned according to the job positions. I have applied for a few recruitments as well.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The annual fees include: Tuition fees, Library fees, Gymkhana fees, Admission process and form, Magzine fees (Finanza is a finance department magazine), I card fees, Uni Sports & cult fees, Student club fees, NSS fees, University examination, exam form and statement of marks fees, University convocation, Computer practical, Insurance, Project fees, Industrial Visit Fees, Utility and development fees as mentioned on the fee receipt. The total amount costs up to 18k to 20k per year for 3 years. I'd say considering the facilities provided and the cost is affordable. Apart from basics like tuition, library, and gymkhana facilities, there are also fests conducted, placements provided, industrial visits provided etc.
Campus Life :
I'm at Mulund College of Commerce, Mumbai University affiliated. It's walking distance from mulund train station. The college by itself isn't that big. There is one 3 way shaped building with 3 floors. There is a turf for sports, a canteen, a gymkhana, an auditorium, a girls common room, a boys' common room and two libraries. There are all sorts of books related to the curriculum available in the library. There are many sports conducted. There are different fests of different departments where students can take part in different activities. You can find out more about fests like spectrum, alumnia, Manthan, etc on social media as well. There's an NSS unit for students. In the classroom, there is a projector, a whiteboard and a blackboard for teachers to use. Overall there are many activities to take part and explore in throughout the degree.
Admission :
The admission process is smooth and simple. The application form and course details as well as fees can be found on the college website. I got my admission through sports quota. The steps involved are: applying via the college website, checking eligibility in the lists posted by the college and going to the admission portal to reserve your seat. This is what I did for admission to the financial markets course.
