Remarks

The admission process is through the Common Admission Test i.e CAT. On the basis of the percentile received, the cutoff varies from category to category. IIM Bangalore specifically has a preference for work experience and alters the percentage weightage given to it every year, which is not disclosed by the institute. The application form for applying for specific IIMs is also through the CAT procedure.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum in the first two terms is rigorous and academically heavy. The first two terms have fixed six courses that are mandatory for everyone. The third term gives the leverage of taking two electives and four permanent courses. 4th term and consecutively second year onwards, the students are given the leverage of choosing their subjects based on their domain interest. The number of subjects to be chosen is also on them, considering they need to complete 45 credits overall in the second year. The faculty-student would be around 1:20 in IIM Bangalore, with faculty members graduating from top-tier MBA colleges like IIMs and other Ivy League colleges. Most of them are also PHDs, and guest lecturers are invited frequently to impart industry knowledge. The teaching method for every faculty member differs, with each being given the liberty to design their course structure. Term exams for most courses happen twice a term, with mid-term and end-term exams.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The internship offers on campus include Nestle, Colgate-Palmolive, Google, and Microsoft. The roles are offered in the domain of product management, sales & marketing, operations and finance. The projects include strategy formulation and pilot implementation during the two months in the summer. The projects in an internship are mostly industry knowledge which is well supported by the college curriculum.

Placement Experience

4

The placement season in IIM Bangalore has a 100% placement history. The companies for internships start coming on campus in the second term with a 3-4 days placement season where the entire batch gets placed. The number of companies that visit the campus is 130+, including Google, Microsoft, Myntra etc. The highest campus is around one crore in India, and the average package is around 22 to 24 lacs. 100% placement happens on campus unless someone signs out of the placement process. My plans after my MBA include continuing with the company in the sales and marketing domain.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are comparatively on the higher end in comparison to other IIMs. However, the facilities including the classroom and hostel infrastructure, are always in good condition. The fees are fixed at the start of the course that remains fixed for the two years of the MBA. The college provides all information to students on the latest scholarship programs to avail of backward classes, including the economically backward. In addition, there is the provision of a Director's merit list and Director's honour list, which is awarded to top-performing students after their cumulative first-year grades and they are given scholarships basis the list they fall into. The internship I got on campus was from Colgate-Palmolive

Campus Life

4

Life at the campus is happening with one annual fest, i.e. Unmaad and two business fests, i.e. Eximius and Vista. The library is filled with books catering to the college curriculum and novels for everybody's interest. The classroom facilities have a high-end infrastructure with two large projector screens and seats with name cards for class participation. The sports infrastructure includes quality infrastructure for every sport, like swimming, badminton, table tennis etc. There are also sports fests inter IIM, including IIMs from the south and other ones with IIMs from the North. Many social cliubs, societies and organising committees in IIM Bangalore are completely student-run, catering to different interests such as marketing, consulting, operations, women empowerment etc

Hostel Facilities

5

In the hostel room, the facilities provided include a whiteboard, cupboard, table, chair, mattress, bed, bedsheet, pillow and pillow cover. The quality of mess food is great with a live counter for eggs and juice working daily. There is a wide variety of meals available with extra add-ons that one can pay through a special wallet that is charged through the mess food. The hostel is mandatory for all students and there is no separate procedure for registering for the hostel because it is part of the enrollment process.

Interview Experience

4.5

I faced a personal Interview and a written aptitude test which was like an essay writing take on something topical from current affairs. The process happened completely online, with the interviewers being flexible in their approach and giving the candidate the time to talk about himself/herself. The interviews are mostly profile-based, and some are based on the referrals asked before the interview. The referrals require a detailed list of answers from the person referring the candidate. For the preparation, I took test series from a coaching institute and also practised writing essays and answers with them.

Course structure was good as everything was done in a systematic way. Best thing I learnt from college is that I got to meet new people and get chance to communicate with them by which I believe to some extent my English was improved. For learning the college is good but for placement not good at all
