Remarks
Apply using JU official website, notices are printed there and links are also provided there. Reservation is fully applicable here as it's a government institute (however I don't know the details since I didn't avail any, am a general category student). Application fees were waived off in our time, if present now, they must be minuscule. Admission involved a written test and grade 12 scores.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had no intention to become an engineer, hence economics was my choice. The faculty-student ratio is decent, batches are not huge. Exams are quite difficult to score, especially in the pre-final year. There have been instances of good students scoring 10%-20% marks in internals. The frequency of exams was as follows - 3rd sem started in August, exams started at the end of August, the whole of September, the whole of November, and the whole of December. The new semester starts mid-January. That gives you a picture I believe. Professors are generally good, and some are great. However I suggest non-Bengalis please refrain from coming here, during my viva a professor started in Bengali, and when I told them that I don't know it that well, they said "Why not, you have to know it", "Why should we not speak in Bangla in our state". It was my Viva at that time but all I wanted to say was, with all due respect professor, the medium of instruction is English, you must speak in that. But, not all professors are like that.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees structure is minuscule. It was Rs. 1235 in 1st year and Rs. 950 in the second year. Even this can be waived or you can receive government scholarships if you belong to the non-general category. The college will not help you get placed after your bachelor's. After Masters the placements are decent. CitiBank recruits mainly. Avg CTC I guess was 15 LPA Deloitte and KPMG offered very few roles, maybe 1 by Deloitte, and 2 by KPMG.
Campus Life
Many active groups and clubs, E-Cell is quite a thing here for aspiring entrepreneurs. Social clubs like Animal Society is quite active. Sports are ample and amenities are decent. Lots of freedom given to students here. Minimum interference.
